Default Is it ok to.....

saute mushrooms and onions in a bit of olive oil and put over my chicken? I am trying to find ways to deal with my cravings that are still on plan :s

That is fine. Obviously, just don't go overboard with the olive oil. I do this with peppers, onions, mushrooms, and beans.

I agree with Hybrid. Olive oil is a healthy oil (mostly mono-unsaturated fat) but it does have 119 calories per tablespoonful. Eating moderate amounts of fat will help with hunger cravings. I also use almonds or peanuts to help with cravings.

Do you guys all count the calorie value of vegetables like tomatoes, mushrooms, beans, and all that? Surely they don't count for much... I can understand something like potatoe's, etc... but onions beans and the like is just a bit pedantic... yea?

fibrous ones, i stopped after i cut and realized it didn't do anything for me. If you need to, then keep on. I think anyone who is into the diet aspect of bbing, which i would heavily recommend, should at least measure things for 6 month... until they have learned what everything looks like. Once this happens, there is no real need to measure anything beyond say... dry rice or oil.

I used to count calories religously but i felt like it was wasting to much time. I'm definetely conscious of calorie consumption but not as anal anymore. Lately I've been using Pro Track 2005. I enter my daily food consumption and it totals everything up and keeps track of it.

I used to be anal about everything that I ate. No, I don't bother with tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, lettuce, salad greens, asparagus, mushrooms, etc. Those take more calories to digest than they have in them. Beans? Yes, that can be a big number. You have to count the beans.

EVERY Single calorie counts when you are bodybuilding.

The notion that some calories don't count is rediculous. All of them go toward establishing your base metabolism, and all of them have a role in determining what state your body is in, and how it will respond to the rest of your diet and training.

If it's digestible, it's affecting your metabolism, and it counts. :yes:

I don't bother with mushrooms either.....matter of fact I don't eat the damn things....just can't get past the texture of them. Besides, I really don't like fungus. I don't eat snails either. Too much like eating a slimy booger on the half-shell as it were.
