Default Mineral water, good or bad?

I got hooked on drinking mineral water in Europe this summer and that's mostly what they drink over there and was just wondering if it's that bad for you. The stuff I normally get in the US is fairly low in sodium.

Here's one of the brands I normally buy...

BOTTLED WATER ANALYSIS:
milligrams per liter (mg/l)
2527 TDS
ph factor
347 Calcium
39.7 Chlorides
0.21 Fluordine
1817 Bicarbonate
108 Magnesium
0.4 Maganese
5.1 Nitrate
10.8 Potassium
40.2 Silica
119 Sodium
2.9 Stroncium
36.3 Sulphates

Judging by the Bicarb count, Im assuming its carbonated mineral water?
Man, how can you drink that shit
I dont think it should hurt at all, but I will happily stand corrected.

The minerals in mineral water are not organic and not used by the body, energy must be used to excrete the minerals, and they can be unbalancing and harmful.

Water

I used to hate it, but after drinking it for about a month this summer it kind of grew on me. The uncarbonated stuff is gross, but carbonated is good. :bigthumbu

Water
I guess I don't understand how the minerals aren't organic. This water is bottled from a natural spring and is naturally carbonated. That link seems to suggest that all mineral water contains chemicals and inorganic minerals.

It seems to me that this water certainly has organic mineral content, although I'm sure some cheaper water don't, and also contains no "additives." My real question is whether or not the mineral content of water like this is bad for you.

I think it was the founder of Panasonic, or the Managing Director or someone like that who said that electrical goods and technology should be like water - cheap and easily accessible to anyone. Later on, giving a speech to a group of people, he observed that calculators with solar powered batteries - complex pieces of electronic equipment requiring years of research and development to create - are sold for 50 cents in some places - whereas people are often paying $2 or more for 600ml of bottled water. Ironic, huh?

LOL, I'm just hooked on mineral water. I don't drink it all the time, but a couple times a week I'll drink a liter bottle of it. My main concern was that it might cause kidney stones over the longrun.

I wasn't criticising you - I was just making a comment for those who go nuts over bottled water, because it's meant to be healthier

Yeah, that's one thing I miss about the restaurants in Europe is not usually having a big glass of ice water with the meal. :eat:

I don't like carbonated water either, it bothers my stomach. But if you like it I don't really think there's anything wrong with mineral water other than the cost.

I just use a gallon spring water from kroger or meijer. :bigthumbu

The idea of paying for water is just too weird for me. :p We have good tap water here so that's what I drink.

We have really bad water here.. so we buy bottled water to drink.. I personally dont like to drink water that tastes like the neighborhood swimming pool... now if I had some good well water to drink it would be different.. but I dont.. so bottled water will have to do..
