Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | With the school semester FASTLY approaching and my all out bulk about to begin, I'm stuck with a time management issue 2 days a week where I will not have time to breath much less sit down and eat a 'meal'. I was thinking of carrying around a small cooler with me. I can fill tupperwares with brown rice chicken and olive oil for when i can sit down and enjoy a meal, and keep home made protein bars for scarfing between classes, possibley with .... some milk?? How do you guys handle this? I have school from 9am to 3:45pm, then work from 4pm to 9pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 51 | I personally LOVE Skim Milk when bulking. I drink 72oz of it per day during my mass building phase. I have no issues with Lactose, and I don't put on fat super easily, so the carbs and calories are not an issue for me when trying to gain weight. I love the protein, vitamins, and minerals that milk provides, and I love the way it tastes, either by itself, or with protein powder. It's a staple of my bulking diet, and it has always worked well for me. - EME Quote:

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | I'm just a little scared of the carb content. IIRC Milk is 12g of lactose and 8g of protein per cup. It's going to be easy to get lots of quality carbs in but I'm trying to find effecient ways to shuttle protein into my diet w/o resorting to protein powder. But considering it's only 2 days a week maybe protein powder in skim milk would be my best option. sorry, i had to post that random image.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 51 | There is nothing wrong with supplementing your diet with protein powder. In many ways using protein powder can actually be a better option than using protein from other whole foods. It is often formulated to be more easily digested. Powder formulations are often fortified with other nutrients and ingredients not found as abundently in most whole foods. It's often much more convenient to drink a protein drink than it is try to sit down and eat a chicken breast or a bowl of egg whites. I drink two protein drinks per day at work. It takes me a grand total of about 3-4 minutes to fill up my shaker with water from the water fountain, shake up and drink the protein, and wash out the shaker. If it weren't for those protein drinks, I wouldn't be able to get my protein in at the time intervals my plan calls for. I can't take the time at work to eat solid food three times per day. I'm certainly not saying to abandon solid food altogether... but the use of protein drinks to make sure you are getting in your macros as needed is a good thing.. not a bad thing. As for the skim milk.....12 carbs per 8 oz is nothing to be afraid of. If you truly want to put on some big muscle and look like Jay Cutler one day... you're going to have to stop being afraid of carbs Skel. Carbs are not the enemy!! Especially not when bulking. - EME p.s.... what the heck is that dancing thing, and what is it doing in your post? Quote:

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | I just need to be careful with the carbs as I'm coming off of keto. CKD makes you super sensitive to carbs so you have to lean them back in to avoid a rebound. After the next carb up i'm going to start eating carbs again here and there to prepare my body for this. The last thing i want to do is look like a puff ball at the beginning of the semester ![]() As always EME, great advice. While bulking I'll have a home made protein bar and some protein in milk. Then when i'm cutting later in the semester I'll have protein and olive oil. (My classmates get a HYUGE kick out of watching me drink olive oil plain). I'm not afraid of carbs I only go the keto route because I'm an impatient bastard and it results in some very fast fat loss while sparing my muscle. I really don't have too much of an issue with insulin resistance as long as I keep it low GI/healthy.I doubt I'll ever look like Jay Cutler, but I figure it's always best to shoot for the stars Jay is the first heavy weight bodybuilder I ever saw who's physique was freakishly big, yet very presentable (not "freakish LOOKING"). Some of the other IFBB pros just don't look right holding their mass, but I think Jay pulls it off well.Do you have any other ideas for things I can package up and bring around in a cooler? Cutting logistics were easy, I just used to throw chicken breasts, walnuts, and flax cakes into the front compartment of my backpack... but my days were shorter. Now I have to eat more food, and more often. In a way this will work as an advantage because I will have a steady meal plan with consistent timing.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 15 | Well I am lactose intolerant so I cannot have milk . I think its an easy way to get in extra cals and more protein. I do take in alot of shakes for convience purposes plus its one of the cheapest protein sources. I almost don' t consider it a supplement. I actually crave protein powder I love it. I do try to get at least 3 meals per day from whole protein sources if I can.

| Der Leutnant | i take in a gallon of 1% daily. i've been doing it for about 5 months. i know people may think i'm nuts for not choosing fat free....but i like to do things a little differently. milk is a must (if your body can handle the lactose) during a bulk IMO

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | yeah i was considering the whole milk. It's my own personal opinion that whole milk (and whole fat dairy in general) is "clean" while the low fat and skim dairy products are actually pretty damn dirty. (Just look at the ingredients for anyone who doesn't understand my reasoning).

| Pro Stature | Milk is the shit when bulking...fast and slow digesting protein and slow digesting carbohydrates. Hell, if you're bulking you can even go with 2% to get the extra protein sparing fat into your diet...not to mention the muscle building benefits of saturated fat in it.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | I think milk is good, especially for calories. I believe the carbs in it are lactose and it has 8g of protein. Too much sat fat though Get some fat free milk and mix it with some ON chocolate. |
