Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 5 | is dark meat worse than white meat (chicken meat)? and if it is, then why ? Skinless and boneless by the way, and I usually clean all the lil fat globs off the chicken prior to cooking. Just curious because I usually buy chicken breast and last time I went to the store they were out. So I got chicken thighs instead. (I apologize if there is already a post like this but I did a search for chicken legs/ chicken breast, etc and it brought up a TON load of posts.) |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 51 | The real difference is that Dark meat has about half the protein of white meat and roughly the same amount of fat per serving. Therefore, to get the same amount of protein per serving, you end up with twice the amount fat. So, the percentage of calories from fat is about double in dark meat as it is in white meat. Bottom line, dark meat isn't necessarily a bad choice, but you get twice as much protein from white meat from the same serving size, and most people are eating their chicken as a source of quality low fat protein. White meat gives you much more per serving.
