| Amateur | I seem to have a problem. I am trying to shed a few lbs of fat while continuing to gain muscle. It seems though that everytime I go about 2-3 days with a strict diet of high protein and lower amounts of carbs that I crash at the gym and get extremely weak/light headed. To correct this I foolishly usually go on a binge of junk food at night and the next day I am golden at the gym, lots of energy, more strength etc. What do I need to do to have that burst of energy in the gym that I get from eating all that junk food the night before while keeping a healthy diet that will allow me to lose fat and gain muscle? I appreciate all feedback, recipes, especially food to eat or meals to consume a few hours before the gym. Thanks fellow IM's!!! |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 44 | Try high carbs but lower the Calories, some people just don't operate well on low carb. Either that or you can wait it out, I'm used to 25% kcal from carbs now, but all last year when I was prepping for the IMPC even like 10 weeks in it was bad (but not as bad as week 1).

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 113 | i'm running a CKD right now. I'm having GREAT success. I put my two heavy training days back to back, and carb refeed (4000 kcals) the day prior, and the two days of the heavy training. The other days are NO carb days, eating about 2500 kcals. I don't follow a BBing routine, so i can get away with 2 days of real training/ week.

technically though.... shedding fat & gaining muscle is about impossible in my book. shedding cals = restricted cal's.... building muscle = extra cal's | |
