Question Are energy drinks bad for you?

I usually have a Monster energy drink every morning to help wake me up, its my morning coffee. I notice on the supplement facts that it contains several vitamins and it has less sugar and calories than a soda.

I was just curious to how bad these can be for you.

I don't see what you can get in the energy drink that a good multi or fruit won't provide.

Stay away from crap with sugar. Just because it has fewer kcals doesn't make it healthy. The only energy drink anyone should ever take is dextrose, and this is strickly Post-Training.

To answer you question: It is crap.

Thanks for the advice.

I take a multi everyday. And my morning breakfast usually consists of oatmeal, protein, and a fruit.

I never assumed that they were good for you just because they had less than sodas. And I had already assumed they probably were not the best thing for you. I was just wondering if they were that bad for you.

you can opt for the diet versions of the drink. Every one I've had (diet) has tasted like junk... but they have definately waken me up.

Active ingredients: L-Carnitine, Glucose, Caffeine, Guarana, Inositol,
Glucuronlactone, Maltodextrin, Tuarine, Panax Ginseng, B6, B12

At 8oz and 27grams of sugar its nots bad. i try to avoid sugary drinks so I drink a cup of coffee black. regular coffee with cream and sugar (which most ppl have) is much worse. I think its fine. If anything dont drink it on non-lifting days (weekdays only). u will build a tolerance to it aswell. you may want to cut back a bit on some of the other carbs you have for bfast. lots of ppl like this brand ill have to give it a whorl. whem im cheating i get the Starbucks carmel mocchiato.

Those facts on the label are based on an 8oz serving .. so if you're drinking a 16oz can then you need to double the numbers listed on the facts to see how much you are really ingesting. Basically a 16oz can would be 200 calories and 54g of sugar. Here's the label:

edit: looks like Mitch beat me to posting up the label

VPX Redline RTD is worth a look. Zero cals and it taste's pretty decent- although it's not strictly supposed to be an energy drink.

I can't stand rockstar diet. Hell I hate all diet anything (friggen aritficial sweetners no good for you). I prefer Full throttle Fury, but its not doing so much for me anymore. time to order some bawls online.

Monster and Ripped are two I used to drink all the time but they fried my system from overuse. I rarely use them now but i'll keep one in my book bag if I really need it in a crunch.
