Although Johnny B. is one of my favorite authors, i only partially agree with his theories on this subject.

Fats can and will substancially slow the digestion of carbohydrates in the human body. With a few exceptions, the slower breakdown of CHO in the body leads to a more muffled respons with insulin, actually keeping your body in a state of fat use in the liver for more of the day. At the same time, the splitting of carbs and fats at seperate meals does make sense from an organizational standpoint. Even though I make healthy fats a part of all my meals except breakfast and Post training (for reasons stated above), I do tend to concentrate my carb intake to the morning, afternoon and early evening, while locating my fat intake to the evening and bed time. My take on this is PARTLY to limit my super available energy when I do not need it. But, on a bulk, I really can't say that is my reason. The BIGGEST reason I put fats before bed is for their horomonal benefit. As anyone who has consumed a diet rich in both carbs AND fats can agree, fats will make you horny. Horny=T, and T=anobolism or T=fat burn. In addition, one of my biggest fat sources (nuts) is a great source of arganine, and great leveler of nitrogen and T. Having this during my sleep is essential to growth.

That is my stance anyhow.

DJ, I agree spot on with everything you said... I don't know how much more I can say. From a personal experience standpoint, I have no trouble putting carbs + fats in the same meal. My diet definitely isn't low fat or low carb (or low protein). I just try to get a lot of each macronutrient as they all have their benefits. It's been working for me so far.

What type of carbs are we talking about? I eat carbs with almost every meal.

Eating about 4+ cups of these a day keeps me from getting cravings for other (bad) carbs. Otherwise I'll find myself eating a whole pizza (no love for the 'zza, see thread) or at Quiznos with 2 subs in hand.

Thumbs up Re: "Dustin's Take a Stance on it!" Volume 1: Carbs AND fat with your protein?

I agree and I also just have a regular meal post training, I have an in-workout shake BCAA's (Xtend) during workout so I wait 45min postworkout and have a normal meal of P-C-F . Eat your healthy fats
