Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | I'm just wondering what your thoughts are on this. Lots of stuff I've read basically states that body weight is determined by calories in compared to calories out, so what real effect does type of calories have with regards to this. Like lets say your maintanence is 2500 calories a day and in scenario one you eat somewhat 'unclean' foods like white pasta, rice, bread, popcorn, pizza, etc, along with other healthy foods totally 2000 calories and in the second scenario you eat completely 'clean' foods but eat 3000 calories. Does the person gain weight eating clean vs the one who is eating unclean? Or will there be a body composition change here where the person undereating will lose muscle and gain fat while the one overeating will just put on muscle? What do you think the correlation is? |

WEIGHT is dictated by kcals in verse kcals out. Composition and weight are determined by the quality of your training, meal spacing, and tpye of kcals. Eating a 500 kcal surplus with clean, well spaced/nutrient balanced meals will produce much leaner gains than say.... 3 hueg crappy meals. It is the same for cutting. Consuming 500 kcals under mainentance with well spaced/nutrient balanced meals, will prevent much more muscles loss than if you eat say... those clean kcals equivalent in pizza 3 times per day.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 202 | Clean and unclean calories sounds very religious to me. ![]() Seriously, unclean cals are things like trans fats and high GI carbs. A person's body composition will change for the worse if one is eating nothing but 2,500 cals worth of donuts everyday for maintenance. Conversely, if a person is eating maintenance cals of nothing but lean meats and green veggies then they too will experience a change in their body composition. All things being equal the changes for each are vastly different.

![]() I may be guilty of preaching calories in vs calories out. I don't really mean that when I say that. (The same with saying "losing weight") vs "losing fat". I guess it is a matter of being imprecise. Good point, Powerman. *

| is missing heavy pulls | when you drop food you have 5 seconds to bike it up and it will still be okay to eat when following the 5 second rule if you drop food on the ground and it stays there more then 5 seconds you cant eat it
