40/40/20 to 40/30/30 would be considered a balanced diet by most people.

For a diet to be healthy you should eliminate all foods with sugars and refined white flour in them. Brown rice and whole wheat pasta are usually substitued for white rice and regular pasta. Other good carb sources are beans, oatmeal, salad greens and fibrous veggies.

Fats should come from lean meats, chicken, fish, nuts and extra virgin olive oil. The above meats are also good sources of protein. You can suppliment with whey powder for more protein.

These numbers refer to a percentage not number of grams. It's percentage of calories for that macronutrient. So if your total calories are 2500, your carb grams would be 188 (2500 cal. * .30 / 4g per calorie). If your calories are 1800 your carbs would be 135 g.

See?

I already eat clean, trying to eat protein in every mean, getting my carbs from veggies rather than breads.

veggies arn't a source of anything except macronutrients. Get you carbs from starches and whole grains. Cutting bread out of your diet isn't a bad idea, it eliminates one questionable area. Potato and rice.

Be careful. As a performance athlete, your ability may be restricted on a diet yielding less than 45 or 50% of ur kcals coming from carbs.
