Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 5 | Here's something I've been wondering (and this is in no way related to my other thread, it's just been on my mind). Let's say you've been eating 5000 Calories a day and training your WHOLE body. Well if you were to take a bodypart out of your training regime (let's take legs for example, as they're a big bodypart), does that mean that you can eat less and still grow because that bodypart won't need the calories to grow? Also, what would happen if you carried on eating those 5000 Calories a day after having taken Legs out of your regime... Would those calories be stored as fat because there's nowhere for them to go seeing as the Legs don't need them anymore? HK

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 114 | the question you are asking is very complex, and there is no REAL good answer to it. The fact is, to grow, you need enough energy to cover your daily activies, training, and then some to create an anabolic environment. We, as BBers, can only have a reasonable guess at how many kcals we burn during the day. We really don't KNOW for sure. You just need to listen to your body. Over analysis will drive you crazy. I know I need to eat more on days I train my legs... why? Two reasons: a) I don't see results if I eat my normal extra kcals b) My body tells me so by being extra hungy 30+ hours after a good leg session. If you are trying to gain weight, simple eat all the time. You should be hungry for it. As a general answer to your question: to grow kcals in must be greater than kcals out. Composition has much more to do with composition of the food, timing, and genetics. You have to EARN your ability to eat like a glutton and grow. If you don't train those wheels (or any bodypart mind you) as hard as you deem needed, it is likely your extra energy will be put on as adipose (barring special genetics).
