Default Calorie Conundrum

At this point I am not worried if I lose some muscle mass. I can make it back up later but I am worried about not losing the two pounds per week that I need to keep up my spirits.

I am taking in 2300 calories a day but I having to do ungodly amounts of cardio in order to lose my 2 LBS per week because I am older and my metabolism has slowed down.

So would it not be the same if I dropped my calories a bit more and created a deficit that way?

Cool On The Surface...

Hmm.. On the surface, thys seems lyke an easy question.. & I'd have to say yeah... if a pound of fat is 3500 cals.. then dropping the deficit to 7000 per week would result in 2 pounds of weight loss in a week..

However... I styll lyke to preach the benefits of cardio... and thynk that doing cardio after workouts with weights force the body to use fat cells for energy... Thus you reduce intramuscular fat as well as systemic fat... Systemic fat is the fat stored in fat cells... (I've gotta post more articles where I get thys stuff from) ...

Long story short.. Yes, a caloric reduction will/should still result in weight loss.. however, I feel the cardio is always necessary to reduce bodyfat levels. ... In thys case, I'm comparing ... Losing weight?? vs Losing bodyfat??

Good question... BTW..

Peace..~G

perhaps, but you would have to be careful about how much calories your burning from cardio vs. how much you will drop. if you do HIIT, youll also have to take into account the calories you burn after the cardio.
