| FDU Devils Weightlifter | Hi all! I'm new to this forum, so I might as well introduce myself. I'm Bryant from NJ. I'm 18, and I currently go to a PA community college for the Radio/TV Major, where I hope to someday have a job as a Film Editor. Back in the day (before 9th grade), I was really into baseball and some soccer. I was in a lot better shape, since I kept myself active. Unfortunatly, I tripped over my buddies cousin the day before freshman tryouts and pinched a nerve, and I can't throw a ball for any extended periods of time, much less pitch like I used to. I've been into bowling basically my entire life, and its been my favorite sport for a long time. Recently, I put a lot more time into bowling and in the last 2 years I was on a Junior Gold league (for people with 175+ averages, top 3-5 people go to national tournament in places like Vegas, Florida etc...). Unfortunatly, in the last 4 months I've sustained yet another potentially career ending injury, this time in the form of tendinitis. Apparently, the way I bowl caused this and its unknown if it will heal and if I will ever be able to bowl again. ![]() During high school I really didn't take care of my body to well. The only weights I ever touched were the 5 weeks in gym class they forced us to do. I knew I should have kept doing it, but I never caught on to it. When I graduated, I was really overweight, something like 225-230lbs. When I started college in the fall of last year, I met my now good friend and trainer in an English class. The guy obviously was a ametuer bodybuilder and avid gym-goer, and for about a month I kept thinking, what would I do if he asked me to go to the gym with him? Well, the one day he did, and I've been addicted every since. I've also changed my diet, but not as drastically as I should have. As of october, I have been clean (or as clean as humanly possible) of soda, artificial sweetners, milk chocolate (as in candy bar form), massive amounts of sugar and carbs (I'm still working so hard on this part), and adding some fruits and vegetables to my diet (the hardest part by far). Now, about 8/9months later, I'm down ~25lbs, and ~8-10% bodyfat. Sadly, I never had a bodyfat check before I started lifting. As of now, I'm in a Biggest Loser Contest at my home gym, and so far, out of well over 300 men, I am ranked 10th overall for percentage of bodyfat lost. I've lost 12lbs and 4% bodyfat in the last 2months, and Monday, June 5th is my final weigh-in. I'm really pysched about this, even though I haven't lost much weight, I feel like I've lost ~1% bodyfat. I really hope I push high enough for 5th place or so. I honestly don't care anymore about the prizes (even though, for 1st place, the MSRP is in the thousands!), I just want to keep this trend of losing weight on well into the end of this year. My current goals, weight-wise, would be to around ~190lbs with around 15% bodyfat, but being bigger with less bodyfat isn't a problem either. I also have some strict goals, and that is to, by the end of this year, be benching 225, squating 315 and deadlifting 405. I'm pretty close to them right now, but I want a realistic goal. What is really helping me out though, is if I put up 315 on the squat, and 405 on the deadlift, it puts me up there with the minority of guys at the gym who can move that kind of weight. Can't wait for the future!

| FDU Devils Weightlifter | yeah, the tendonitis sucks, but I'm hoping I'll get over it in time for the fall season of bowling. Tomorows the big day! and I timed the date for weigh-in perfectly! I'm just now starting to lose weight from the last 3 weeks of not losing any. ![]()
