Some backround on me. Ive been this weight for 5 years, up and down 5lbs any given day. Ive been trying to put weight on obviously for some time. I eat approx 5 to 6k calories a day with nothing to show for it. So thats me in a nutshell. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 60 | Welcome to ironmass. You've come to the right place for help in reaching your goals. I'd suggest you post up as much detail as possible regarding your experience, current training protocol and diet. You'll get more advice than you can shake a stick at. Just for starters, it's obvious that you are an extreme ectomorph. I find it hard to believe that you wouldn't gain some weight on 5-6K cals at 145 lbs. Have you actually counted your cals or is that a guesstimate? If you're looking to gain weight and it isn't happening, the solution is simple: Eat more!!! It really is that simple.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | I have counted my calories. I havent been to a doctor to see why I have a hard time with my weight. On the other hand if I dont eat as much as I do, I tend to loose weight. My diet consists of anything and everything I can get my hands on all throughout the day, with my biggest meal right before bed. And as far as drinks go, I stick with water and have a clear no caffine soda twice a week. As of right now I just want to add weight. Once I hit my goal of 200lbs then I can concentrate on the finer points of looking good. My work outs right now are pretty pathetic, however suit my body. I train upper body twice a week and lower once. I get my heart rate up above 100 everyday, and sleep alot. I have only been doing this for the past month to get my body used to the excersise. Im not taking any suppliments atm, but will if need be. And the extreme ectomorph fits the bill nicely. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 299 | Welcome to IronMass Trknslim. Do you do a lot of physical exercise, sports? Makes no sense why you aren't gaining weight at 6000 cals a day. Average person will gain about a pound a week at 20x cals x your bodyweight. So you should be gaining (baring lot's of cardio) at around 3000. Do you have a tape worm? |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | Haha tape worm...I dunno, I should check up on the effects of a worm. I used to play alot of sports when I was younger, but dont now. Once I hit high school I grew from 5'9 to 6'3 where I am now and didnt put on more than 10lbs in those 6 inches. I dont do any physical work at my job and I use stairs wherever I can. People have told me just eat more, eat more, eat more. I just dont want it all to go to the stomach. Im not chubby in the mid section by any means. Im hoping to gain muscle weight over fat, but whatever I can get. |

Welcome to the board. We can help you achieve your goals, but do us a favor, and write down everything you eat in a day.. tomorrow or the next day keep a piece of paper with you, and write down everything you eat the whole day. Like was already said if you are not gaining weight you are not eating enough. Simple as that. If you were eating enough to gain muscle you would put on a little fat as well.. pretty much unavoidable when you are in the caloric surplus needed to add muscle... cutting for you later will be a snap with your fast metabolism. | |
