Here are my thoughts:

1) Go ass to the grass to get the maximum range of motion, and use the most strict form possible.

2) Yes, it is the single best excercise to build up your legs, as it is a compound movement.

3) To maximize growth in your legs to help the rest of your body grow.

4) Everyone should do at least a variation of squats, but regular ones would probably be preferred.

1.) make sure you stretch and warm up properly
2.) yes, i always include standard barbell squats in my workout and usually at least one other form like hack squats or front squats
3.)they are most effective compound exercise to add mass to your quads
4.)Some people need the pad when they first begin, untill they build up thier traps enough to support the weight without discomfort
5.) they are the most painful lifts, but if done properly they can be the most rewarding.

Lightbulb

1- i would say make sure your stance is slightly wider than shoulder, your feet are pointing at 11 and 1 and keep your head up.

2- I'm doing squats, box squats and jump squats ATM, and I'm planning on rotating front squats in there somewhere.

3- you should do squats because it is the king of exercises. it also is a precursor for people wanting to do olympic lifts. Plus for those in high school the only people that squat are the athletes so for those that just go to the gym to get big mainly focus on upper body and rarely hit legs and end up with chicken legs. If you blast away at squats and build up your legs you will find many new ways to sit at your desk during class when your wearing shorts

4- i started off using bar pads because I didn't have hardly any traps to support the weight on. I personally don't see anything wrong with using them as I don't feel the cheat/aid in lifting heavier as would straps would in DL's.

5- This is just something funny that I have post-whored a lot :o :

Unfortunately I do not do squats because of bulging discs in my back... but I do hack squats.

To me the best squats are 20 Rep Squats. These build massive Legs and make weak men strong.

* What are some pointers & tips you can give in regards to performing squats?
Concentrate on form if your back is hurting from doing back squats and you cant get your form right do front squats. It is next to impossible to do them without dropping the bar with bad form
* In YOUR OWN personal training, are you currently doing squats? why? or why not?
Yes I am only the best exercise for your legs
I’m doing an intense squat program check my journal out for more detail
* Why should you do squats?
For pretty legs
* Thoughts on Bar Pads and/or Manta Ray accessories for squats
i think bar pads are fine especially on heavy squats
* Other thoughts, opinions, etc.

Real men squat

20 reppers are all that seem to be working for me now. I did the MAX-OT for 12 weeks and staled. Now with the 20 reppers I'm growing again. M seems to be doing well at 15 reps on hers. Strict form is the key to squats, they and build and they can kill if done wrong!!
