People tend to be too anal with diet when all they need is enough. Don't need to really measure it as long as you get close to an amount you want of whatever it is. And some foods are great, but may not the cleanest (depending on opinion). I'll still make myself some burgers in the George Foreman with some seasoning and barbecue sauce. Some baked chips are always good with a sandwich. I guess others will eat very clean for whatever reason that they have to achieve their results/goals.

good job on saying what you consider "eating clean" is peaked_18.... roflz.

i consider eating clean to be no fast food, except subway. water only. no box foods. no canned goods. no frozen shit. nothing high in sodium. i know im forgetting something.. but generally along those lines. i dont do it often but i try to at least get 1 or 2 months of strict clean eating out of my cuts.

My definition of "clean" is drastically different than other people's, but it makes sense and works for me.

The less items in the ingredient list, the cleaner it is. If it has only one ingredient, then it's clean. (IE, Olive Oil, ingredients: Olive Oil). Using this same logic I feel that Whole fat cheese is cleaner (and healthier) than non fat cheese... just take a gander at the ingredient list to see my reasoning.

Whole fat cheese, ground beef, whole eggs, vegetables, and other things... are clean as far as i'm concerned. I think fat is an integral part of my diet, and I'm a believer in the 'high fat' diet for not just cutting but overall health.

Dirty exceptions are anything that has granulated sugar, hydrogenated oil, hfcs, or any other man made poison. I won't even touch that stuff.

I try to eat around the edge. Yeah, I know, what does that mean?

Go into almost any large grocery store (Safeway, Giants etc...) and look at the edge of the store. This means down the walls, both left and right and against the back wall. More often than not, you will find fresh vegatables and produce on the right side of the store, meat along the back and the dairy section along the left side. This represents the "edges" of the grocery store. Everything in the middle aisles are canned, processed, or frozen. These are the areas I try to avoid.

Anyway, if I eat around the edges, for the most part I figure I'm doing pretty good.

No fast food.
No fried food.
No processed food.

A no junk diet. All healthy meats, fruits, and veggies. Plenty of water and juices. No chips and soda everyday.

I generally consider myself eating clean when I wash my hands before beginning my meal.

On occassion, washing my face or even a full shower is required to eat clean, although I don't usually get dirty enough to require that.

wow, it's really hard to put this into words, but i'll try.

while it is hard to make a blanket statement about eating clean, i think this is the closest (assuming that you have a conscience and a general knowledge about nutrition).
if you feel good about eating it because you know that it will help you to achieve your goal, then it is clean. if you feel bad about it and have to justify it, it is not.

even when doing an all out bulk (1000 plus calories a day) i'll feel bad about eating a mini reese's cup, even though it's very small. i'll justify it by saying that I need help in getting all my calories and that i will gain fat, however i know that i could have eaten something else that would be more effective at building muscle than fat.

also, eating clean (to me) doesn't mean just clean foods but clean amounts. while cutting it may be easy to eat a huge handful of almonds. they are healthy fats, after all. however, we all [should] know that eating 400 calories of almonds in one meal is not clean.

1000 calories over maintenance. and while that may not seem "all out" to some people, eating 5000 calories a day is a challenge for me.

Chips, donuts, cookies, cinnamon buns, colas, chocolates, cakes, hamburgers, fries.....just kidding.

I'll eat just about everything my parents will cook. The thing I especially love about my parents is that they'll cook healthy meals. I'll occasionally give em a hand by cooking myself but I gotta tell ya, not everyone loves breaded, spiced up chicken breasts 7 days a week. :p
