Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 98 | With all the discussion lately in the media about steroid use in general and of course in baseball this topic should generate plenty of opinions. :fingersxd How do you feel about steroid use in pro bodybuilding? Do you think more should be done to prohibit it by the sponsoring organizations? What kind of effect would it have on the audience if the pros were all natural? Would it reduce the overall audience or make it become more mainstream? Let's hear your thoughts. :bigthumbu |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 159 | Steroids in Pro BB are good for the sport. Plain and simple... thats what the majority of people want to see huge freaks onstage, and as long as it is bringing in money it will not change, no matter how bad the conditions get and how many people die its all about money. I dont think that anything should be done to prohibit it because obviously every ranking pro bb'er is using. Even if all pros had to become natural... after a while the crowds would still want bigger and bigger competitors the next year... and they arent going to be able to do that naturally. Personally i find the bodies of Flex Wheeler and Dexter Jackson and even Victor Martinez more admirable than the unattainable freaky bodies of people like Ronnie and Jay. Bodybuilding will never become mainsteam. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 31 | Pro bodybuilders are on steroids??? Really?? I would love for bodybuilding to go more mainstream... I'm not against the use of steriods period... Your personal choice.. however... the reason bodybuilding isn't mainstream isn't the steroids... It's just that besydes modeling and action movies, there's just no outlet to display the bodybuilding physique... In the past, there was Steve Reeves who played Hercules... then there was Tarzan... and Arnold in Conan... that bought attention to the sport.. Football players nowadays are built lyke bodybuilders and they're considered more of an athelete than a bodybuilder or a powerlyfter... that's also reflected in their salaries... Nowadays... there are people who want to get built for a purpose... whether it's to do a sport or job better or purely ego/aesthetic reasons... That's the majority of the reason that supplements sell so well... Thys will give me more muscles.. so I can run faster, jump higher, throw farther... etc.. etc.. Most of the men give up on being as big as Ronnie & Jay because they don't accept it as being naturally possible... Even I doubt it & I want to be bigger than all the humans... However, the physiques of Arnold "LOOKED" attainable... and now, when I'm in the gym... I don't thynk I can be as big as Ronnie, but I do thynk I could be lyke Dexter Jackson... The way he looks in contest shape is the way a lot of people wouldn't mynd looking everyday... That would make him a lovely ambassador of our sport.. Thys will eventually revolve around women tho... As our pros have more attractive, slightly larger than mainstream, physiques... Women will be drawn to the sport and fill auditoriums & arenas to cheer for their favorite bodybuilder... Those women will also see a movie and stare at the Rock... When their boyfriend sees thys... He'll say.. Hmm.. she lykes that kynda body... maybe it won't kill me to workout... .... It's how the WWE took wrestling mainstream... with The Rock, Batista, John Cena ... The women should get more money & be more mainstream as well.. but there will alwayz be men available to look at women in one & two piece bathing suits... myself included... I just thynk its a shame that a pro-fisherman or bowler can make more in a tournament than a pro bodybuilder... Peace..~G

| IronMass Sponsor | I think that they should make a "free juice" policy in professional sports. If I wanted to see skinny sissies on the playing field, I'd watch college or high school sports. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 3 | Well after watching that special on HBO about steroids, my views about it have changed. If you do it correctly (minimal doses that your body can handle) and do it with an MD monitoring you, I think it's cool. That one guy on the show has been doing roids for 30 years and he's very healthy and gets annual checkups with his doctor. I was amazed. Despite the fact that it can done in a healthy manner, I would never touch the real stuff here in the states because it is illegal but I think bodybuilding at the professional level wouldn't be what it is today w/o the juice. It's awesome to see those freaks on stage even though we all know they juice. Fred |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 3 | Well, I didn't mean exactly minimal, I meant the correct amount w/o it being characterized as "abusing" the substance. The guys on that show seemed to know exactly what they are doing. I mean, if you can do roids for 20-30 years and all organs are showing good health then there's got to be a "minimal" amount that the body can handle. Make sense lol? Hard to explain but I think steroids are okay if you know what you are doing and that you aren't doing them to enhance athletic performance. If you do them to get huge, that's one thing but giving you an edge over someone who doesn't use them isn't fair.Fred |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 10 | Bodybuilding evolves based upon, largely, what the fans want to see. Ever since Chris Dickerson won the Olympia, the competitors - and champs - have become bigger. Sammir Bannout, Lee Haney, Dorian Yates and now Ronnie Coleman - who would have thought we'd ever have a shredded, 300lb monster, at 5'11, on stage winning contests?? Whats more, you have both Markus Ruhl and Gunter Schlierkamp competing at close to 300lb, with Jay Cutler not far behind. The four most popular people on stage are generally the four biggest guys on stage. Obviously, in order to gain and maintain that size, standard nutrition and training theories will not deliver - otherwise we'd all be floating at or around the 240lb mark. The simple fact is steroids are needed to obtain the physiques people want to see. I have no reservations whatsoever about the pros using steroids - and stating that the man with the best chemist will win is a crock of shit. The work you have to do to make the steroid use effective is staggering. So long as the IFBB don't sit there and state that they are anti-steroid and then allow every pro competitor on stage to compete with steroids in their bodies, everything is fine.

Any tool bag who wants to blame their problems (I.E. injuries, health problems) on other shit is full of shit. That means you Mimnaugh and Vargason |
