Cool [Week 18's Topic] - Feeling Positive!!

Egomaniac... Cocky... Conceited... ??? ...

I get called that all the tyme... Why?? Because I haven't met a shiny surface that I didn't lyke... I'm lyke Derek Zoolander... I'll stare at myself in a spoon... The back of a CD/DVD ... Tinted car windows... hahaha.. I'll look at myself everywhere except in the gym...

In the gym, I shake my head at all the guys that flex their biceps after every set of dumbbell curls... I mean the ones that have full fledged posedowns with themselves after each set... When I do weighted pullups... I don't do lat spreads in the gym's mirrors...

But even tho these guys amuse me... I understand exactly where they're coming from... A month or two ago, may have been the fyrst tyme they touched a weight and now they're seeing muscles and they lyke it... After 3 months of working out.. My syster asked me if I styll owned any regular shirts or was it just sleeveless & tank tops...

If you're gaining weight successfully or losing weight.. or gaining muscle & losing fat... I thynk you should be proud of yourself... You should feel good about yourself... but instead, we are often our own worse critic...

"Dude, you're looking huge."
"Aww, thanks man, but I styll need to work on my chest & shoulders.."

"Hey girlfriend, you've lost a lotta weight.. You look great!!"
"Really, thanks.. I styll have a long way to go tho.."

Often, it may seem lyke we're tryin to be modest.. but these are real responses I hear to genuine complements all the tyme .. both onlyne & in the forum....

My brothers & systers.. I want you to be proud of yourselves for your accomplishments... Whether it's successfully bulking or cutting.. or just eating clean for a week...

Now for the questions & topic for thys week...

What have you accomplished, in regards to fitness & bodybuilding that you are most proud of??

How do you feel & respond, when people notice &/or comment on your accomplishment??

and ... Finally, how do you feel about yourself???

*******

I'm proud of my permanent bulking cycle.. I didn't gain much fat and didn't really know what I was doing as far as nutrition... That's why I thank Radical 1 so much... He was fyrst to teach me how to eat properly... With the addition of DBFLGyrl, my Nutritional Goddess, I became a Fitday.com whore... and now I'm proud that I'm gaining a lot of size and strength the ryght way & that I'm disciplined enough to stick to my prescribed diet / nutritional intake...

I'm a lil cocky... when I get a compliment.. If it's a guy that smaller than me, I'll thank them and remynd them that I used to weight 155... (now at 190 & rising) ... If it's a bigger dude, I'll thank him and say that I'm working hard to get lyke them... Then I'll proceed with my workout..

I'll say that last week, a lotta my friends told me I was looking bigger... I didn't see it.. Then after a chest workout, I was in the locker room and realized.. Wow, I've gotten bigger.. Since nobody was looking, I hit a bicep pose and scared myself... Geez.. That's how other's see me!!!

It's possible I shouldn't even be allowed to answer thys question because I love everythyng about myself... I thynk I'm walking perfection.. even if it's not true... (& it's not.)... but as I tell others.. If I don't love myself, why should anyone else??? ... Pride, confidence, self-esteem and a lot more comes from within... and I'm gonna get notyced so I may as well feel good about myself.. because one day, I'm gonna be bigger than all the humans.. *D

Peace..~G

I am proud that I have gained so much weight, and I will wrestle about 7-9 weight classes higher than last year.

I feel very good when I get complimented, even if it isn't a DIRECT compliment.

Honestly, I feel like a bag of shit. That is why I started lifting. I wanted to stop looking like a kid from Ethiopia, and pack on some quality mass (which still is yet to come. ). I lift to get stronger, and improve my appearance because I seldom get things in my life that just come to me. (Ex. girls. ) It gives me something to work at and get better at.

Anywayz... I thynk I've been in a permanent bulk cycle so I will styll have some muscles when I decyde to cut... Hell, my friends look at my pics from December and say "Geez, I didn't realize you were that skinny!" ...

Well mine is very un-original, but I am proud of my triceps. Me and my friends always tell eachother to flex. When it comes time for tricep-flexing, I am really proud to see the comparison. But yeah I'm modest too. My friend will say something like "yeah your triceps are great," and then I'll try to act modest by saying "yeah, but my skull-crushers need work" or something along those lines.

But I'll admit that I smile on the inside when a girl compliments me on having gotten bigger over the summer. I think that is the ultimate form of flattery, since they just take one look at you and see that you have worked hard to change your body.

The chicks dig me lol.....I'm kidding of course, but you got what I mean.

I hear what you are saying Game,

but I'm much too shy and self concious to do any posing, or anything like that.

I'm still working on my self esteem issues.

I have too much self esteem. I am a cocky individual in most cases, even though I don't realize it some. I am not huge, or anything... but I do stand up for myself when ever possible (and for others). I always feel I need to get bigger... and better and stronger... which helps me stay consistant with lifting. I like to flex a bit to stretch and to look at the pump when I am done with biceps or triceps, but not in vain like others.I always give people compliments on absolutely everything. I'm a nice guy in the gym.

LOL. I was kidding on the quote below of course.

Weight training over the years has changed my entire personality and outlook on life, from that of a skinny, self concious kid.. to a person who truly believes that anything is possible if you work hard and dedicate yourself.
I honestly believe there is no personal goal I can't achieve with hard work.

My greatest achievement in bodybuilding and fitness actually isn't something that I personally did on stage or in the gym.

My greatest achievement has been training Kendra from never having picked up a weight, to achieving IFBB Pro Status in Fitness.
This is truly her accomplishment, but I am very happy and proud to have been a part of it. It could have never occured without her talent, dedication and hard work, but it has been a team effort from the beginning.

I'll never forget sitting ( standing actually ) in the audience and being filled with emotion as she earned her IFBB Pro Card. The culmination of all of our hard work together over several years. That was a feeling and a moment I will never forget.... definitely better than anything I personally have felt on stage or in the gym.

The two best days of my life:

4/27/02 - Our Wedding Day
and
11/20/04 - The night Kendra won her Pro Card at the NPC Nationals

OK this was week 18's Topic, but I think this is where I need to be. I do try to feel positive but I am a woman, and I am vain. So, to say that I have ever liked my self image would be a lie.
Though I will say I like myself better today than I did 6 months ago, or last year and definitely more than I did 2 years ago.
I am proud of my legs, though as far as my body, my legs have always been my best parts. Oh, those and my boobs! But, for what they costs I better like them!!!
I feel good about the fact that I am by far doing more, and lifting more than I ever thought amaginable too. Exspecially with my lower body. And I know in time the same is going to go for my upper body. The weights will come up even if slowly, they will come up.
When I can put clothes on and look good in them, and when I can look in the mirror and see a change that I did not see before then I am proud. And this is happening more often, so yes I do feel a heck of a lot more positive than before I started lifting.
By the way, last week I looked in the mirror and thought there was something wrong with me! Well, I was ready to call a doctor because something really looked different and I never noticed it before then.
So, I put a piece of clothes on that most women wear daily, but I never do, (never liked being too confined!) and realized that it was just me changing! A good thing!!! So, yes there is wonderful change in my since I started lifting. I still have my moments that I don't like myself but usually someone sets me straight and points out the good changes and that helps get me back on track.
So, this topic is good one for all of us, We Should All be Proud of what we have done and look in the mirror and remind ourselves where we were before we bagan this journey to a more positive body and mind.
