Default johnsbod's Universal Nutrition-Proteon High Protein Bar Review

I recently got a whole bunch of free samples of stuff from Universal Nutrition, including their Proteon High Protein Bar that I'm reviewing here, and I am planning on reviewing them as I try them.

Product Information:

The protein bar. The old standby. The longer you've trained, the more of them you've seen come and go. And even though they've gotten better tasting over the eons, it's always been the same old story. Until now. A new day has dawned in fitness, and Proteon™ is the name to know in the 21st century.

Designed with both your taste buds and your training needs in mind, the Proteon™ bar ushers in the final frontier of protein bars. Packed with muscle building nutrition and mouth watering flavor, Proteon™ makes attaining your physique goals a pleasure. Peanut butter and chocolate chips have never been so nutritious. Oats and whey protein have never tasted so good.

Ready to go wherever and whenever you are, Proteon™ is a convenient alternative to messy protein shakes and a quick fix when there's no time for a meal. Proteon™ makes sure that bodybuilding nutrition is always at arm's length. Throw in the fact that Proteon™ provides the most protein gram for gram vs. the competition and at a better price, and it becomes clear that Proteon™ is in a stratosphere all its own.

Protein
The bottom line for gaining muscle, burning fat and creating the physique of your dreams, Proteon™ has protein in heaps. 32 grams of a new age blend, including superior isolates and concentrates. After a tough workout or as a fitness-friendly snack, Proteon™ will rocket you toward building muscle at the speed of light.

Carbs
The downfall of so many protein bars is the prevalence of fillers and empty calories in their nutritional profile. When formulating Proteon™ we took care to use healthful and worthwhile calories. That is why Proteon™ uses the bodybuilder's favorite fuel, oats, as its primary carb source. Comparatively low in sugar and containing inulin for fiber, Proteon™ is a safe bet in a carb counting universe.

Fats
An often overlooked element of bodybuilding nutrition, Proteon™ has you covered in providing healthful fats. With no trans fats, Proteon™ relies on the naturally occurring fat in peanut butter to fuel your training, promote anabolism and aid in recovery. No junk, no nonsense. Just what you need to meet your nutritional needs… and it tastes good too.

Loaded with protein, high quality carbs and healthy fats, your protein bar choice is now a no-brainer. From the competitive bodybuilder, to the advanced athlete, to the weekend warrior, Proteon™ fits the bill by providing essential nutrition and satisfying your cravings. Destined to make the competition obsolete, the future is now... Proteon™ is here.

Nutritional Information:

Comments: The taste was much better than other protein bars I've had in the past, and it was not as dry either. This is probably due to the high fat content. At least Universal used good fats in this product, but it always bothers me to see Soy appear as a protein source before Whey protien. 14 of the 38 grams of carbs also come from sugar which is too much for me. The protein/carb/fat ratio is pretty good, but there are too many extra ingredients for my liking. I'd recommend eating this product if you get it for free or want something slightly healthier than a snickers bar, but I would not recommend buying it as part of a healthy bodybuilding diet (I still haven't found a bar that I would recommend).
