Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 5 | I received two sample packets from AE and had two distinctly different experiences on two separate days. I am going to base my rating on the second sample because, to be frank, if the first sample was exemplary, I think AE should be ashamed to put out such a product. First packet – took 1/2 packet (one serving) 30 min. pre-workout with 12oz. of water on an empty stomach (as instructed by AE). The powder clumped up into large, nearly inedible clumps even after multiple shakes. The flavor was horrible and I had to force it down. Other than getting a little energy boost, I felt nothing. Rating on this packet: 0/10. Second packet – I decided to try and give GroMax a fair shake by taking the second packet. Today, I mixed 1 full packet (2 servings) 35 min. pre-workout with 12oz. of water on an empty stomach. My experience was a 180-degree difference. Mixability: 10/10 Mixed flawlessly with just a few shakes. Taste: 8/10 While not an extremely exciting flavor (Citrus Punch), it was crisp and pretty refreshing; very easy to get down Results: 8/10 This was kind of a rollercoaster. After about 25 min., I felt a pretty mellow feeling, almost too mellow. Soon thereafter, I got a really good energy boost. About 45 min. after taking GroMax I got a huge amount of energy and focus; it was almost a rage where I could think nothing but lift and lift big. However, this intensity only lasted a little while (maybe 5-6 sets) after that, I felt myself coming down. By the end of my workout, it was not a crash, but I feel I came down pretty hard. This did not make me happy, but admittedly, that initial intensity was amazing. Value: 7/10 Assuming, from my point of view, I need two scoops, that is 15 servings per container at $48 per container. Even if I only take this on lifting days (4 a week), that is approximately 4 weeks. IMO this is a little pricey for an energizer. Product Claims: AE makes the following claims and these are my thoughts: More Strength, More Growth – 6/10, I really didn’t experience this Energy to your Muscles, Power to Your Brain – 8/10, initially great, but I came down harder than I would have liked. Shreds on Demand – 6/10, didn’t really sweat any more than usual Focus. Concentration. Drive – 8/10, initially great, but I came down harder than I would have liked. Train Harder, Recover Faster – 9/10, you do get an energy boost and presumably, the amount of glycine, arginine, and acteyl l-carnitine should provide a good recovery. Overall: 7/10 While this is a descent product, I think it is priced a little outside of comparable products. I do not think it is worth nearly $3.20 per serving IMO. Why the difference between the two packs, I am not sure. My pre-workout energy levels were a little lower on the first day, but not too bad. Could have been a bad sample, who knows. Oh and the one thing I saw in some other reviews was the question as to compare GroMax to BSN No-Xplode… I definitely think GroMax out does No-Xplode. If I had to buy one, I would get GroMax hands down. It tastes better and energizes better. |
