Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 12 | As much as i hate to say it, i am thinking about resigning from the "competition". the main reason being is that i am just wasting space with my threads as i am making no improvements. and taking monthly pictures without improvements can really bring down one's confidence. so i think next month's may be my last picture submission as it will be too late afterwards to make big improvements to ever think of taking the title. maybe next year when i start being more serious about training. so now i am going to focus on my sprinting and jumping instead of how my muscles look, id rather have them functioning and going as fast as possible lol so yeah, thought i will let yas know, its nothing offical, it is something tossed up in the air. i will make it offical down the track if i do follow through with it. p.s. i am aware i made a similar thread like this last month or something so no need to bring that up lol

| IMPC Contestant | Just because your training primarily for strength (jumping/sprinting) doesn't mean you shouldn't/won't get bigger. Look at olympic sprinters. Those dudes/chicks are pretty decently sized and shredded.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 299 | It's simple and we've all been telling you for month's. Your diet is making sure you make little to no change. Get serious about your diet and you will see the results you've always wanted. Choose to continue to ignore the advice and you'll keep spinning your wheels for a lifetime. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 114 | Richo, your a descent member, so i'm not going to chew you out, but all I want to say is simple E A T. It doesn't even have to be the strict stuff. Just get a foundation. Eat whatever you want. Just eat OFTEN and make sure to get some protein in every meal. You are simply an ecto. You clearly love to train and be athletic... so keep on going. If you are sprinting... it is more of a reason to constantly eat. Pack lunches. PB n J, Crackers, oils, nuts and cakes. Whatever it is... just eat man.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | You've been given some good advice here. There's no reason you cannot be getting more muscular/growing while getting more athletic - in fact, if you cannot "feed the machine" any improvements in your athleticism will only really be synaptic training. You are going to short-change your athletic development. So instead of giving up on it, find out WHY you are failing - and improve it. And they've TOLD you why you are failing. Muscle is MORE than half diet. Guess who has more muscle in the following three groups: - bodybuilder - powerlifter - sumo wrestler Answer: sumo.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 3 | I feel your pain Richo, I am more of an ecto-meso but its still hard as shit for me to put on muscle. Since I am in the Army cardiovascular endurance is a big deal, so we do a lot of running. When I started lifting back in February seriously I realized I was already in a calorie deficit, so what did I do, I upped my calories, I would eat a GINORMOUS breakfast even though I would have been ok just eating a banana and drinking some water. I forced myself to eat eggs, cottage cheese, potatoes, bacon, oatmeal, and a banana and an orange, now I know this isnt the healthiest thing, but its what the DFAC serve's and its better than going without. When I joined the Army I weighed 139 lbs, and Im 70 inches tall, when I graduated basic training 14 weeks later I weighed in at 155 and 7% body fat, needless to say I put on a shit load of muscle, and I was eating like a sumo wrestler. When I started lifting back in February I was still the same 155 but with about 10% body fat, now Im weighing in at 176 and around 8% and its all because there is some REALLY smart people on here that told me the main thing to putting on muscle is to EAT. I read a lot asked a lot of questions and the results speak for themselves, I have no doubt in my mind I can be at 190 in 6 months all natural. Anyway dont quit man no one ever accomplished anything by quitting, all your going to do is break down your already low self confidence, stick it out, it took a lot of balls to even enter the contest so no one can talk shit to you. Good luck |

yup. this is what i'll be doing this year. Richo, you should join me. I cut cardio OUT of my diet last year because I wasn't man enough to eat the 5K i needed to grow if I had. But this year... "copious" is the word i'm going to use when describing my food intake. Just rediculous amounts of clean food. I will be concentrating 80% of my carbs before 8pm, and doing cardio 3-4X weekly in the AM. Just do it richo.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | DJ: I know how hard 5k is to chow down, every time my weight hits 190, my cals have had to be in that range to make gains. Biggest drag is how damn SORE your jaw gets with all the chewing (no joke). Got any tricks for that (other than the gross "blend it all" kind)?

eating is anabolic but fat is not muscle a 300lb bodybuilder/powerlifter with low bodyfat has way more muscle than a 300lb obese sumo | |

It is not optimal but does serve to show you that muscle mass can be generated by sufficient intake. Note: they sure as hell are not HEALTHIER though! Average life expectancy is like half (or less) than normal.
