Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 5 | Mom24, I was hoping you would! I think all we need now is dessert. Bren & Pam, I've always admired younger women; they give me great...uh...comfort you might say. Yeah rasp, like you I don't want to be seen as a home wrecker; wonder how long I'll be able to get away with that one? Well I walked for 60 mins today, & was planning to work the weights but was detoured by a grandkid who needed something that only I could do, or so the story went. I'm a sucker for a pretty face. Tomorrow's another day. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 5 | Interesting 60 min walk this AM. My street is being repaved so the smell of hot asphalt is everywhere. Finally got away from it & settled into a good pace through the meadows. As usual there was hardly anyone around but me and when I turned a bend something caught my eye in the underbrush & trees. I looked again & it was a big bull elk staring at me about 30 feet away. His fur was a perfect camouflage & his antlers were covered in velvet. Guess he was browsing & headed toward the creek, gettin' ready for the rut in a month or two. After a few seconds I backed away then started walking again slowly with my head turned toward him; he turned his head a little away from me too but one of his eyes was still on me until I rounded the next bend. It seems to me sometimes it's easier to deal with wild animals than people in certain situations. Gonna lift later today. Have a good wednesday. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 5 | Walked for an hour today & was more alert than yesterday. No one, or thing, around except for 7 jets from the Air Force Academy in Colo. Springs practicing flying in formation. Yesterday worked back/biceps: deadlifts 10-9-8 ; working up to 3/10 DB shrugs 10-10-9; working up to 3/10 DB row leaning against bench 12-11-11; working to 3/12 standing BB curls 10-9-8; working to 3/10 regular & reverse DB wrist curls 12-11-11; working to 3/12 Was a good one. Have been wearing elbow aid flexible straps while lifting & the tendonitis is gone. This is a product that works as advertised! Drank 2 cold glasses of a whey shake with oatmeal which hit the spot. Thinking about what to make for dinner but don't know yet. Tomorrow planning to do a taste test of chicken made 2 different ways: baked in foil with veggies, olive oil, & seasonings ala hibby; and on a rotisserie ala Mom24. Gonna use those range fed dudes. Was thinking about cornish game hens but I'll try these instead. Stay tuned for my critical review. hehehe. Hope your thursday is terrific. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 5 | For this long holiday wkend it looks like I'll be taking care of the grandkid's hamsters. Another one now has a gecko lizard. This thing is about 4" long & is colored like a leopard. It eats crickets which are sold in a pet store in bags & what I've got to do is coat these live crickets in a mineral powder then drop them into the lizard's tank. What fun. Oh yeah, & make sure there's water in the cup, & put the warming light back on top of the tank so the temp stays about 85 degrees, and on and on. Why don't kids like goldfish anymore? |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 5 | I'm a city boy too dog, at least I used to be...now I don't know what I am. Thanks Bren, I never had much luck with fish either; they probably hated me as a kid, it was either feast or famine. Did a blind taste test of the 2 different prepared chickens & both were moist & good. Could tell one from the other, rotisserie seemed to have more juice, but flavor-wise it was a toss up. So I'll be adding more chicken breasts to my menu; thanks hib & mom24 for the tips. The rest of supper was a 3-mushroom soup of low sodium beef broth simmered a long time then a touch of dry sherry toward the end & topped with minced scallion greens just before serving. Brussel sprouts & new red potatoes with herbs were the vegs, & a slice of pumpernickle. Ended with poached pears. Walked for an hour today at the normal pace ~ 120's heart rate. Beautiful sunny day here but the sun doesn't have the bite it had a month ago & the days are getting shorter. Here something to end your friday or start your saturday: Hold fast to dreams For if dreams die Life is a broken-winged bird That cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams For when dreams go Life is a barren field Frozen with snow. "Dreams", Langston Hughes |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 5 | I'm back after taking some time off for an extended holiday break after labor day. Walking everyday of course but skipped a couple of scheduled workouts. Grandkids are back in school & the 2 older ones are at new schools this year so I'm doing what I can to help them adjust; they're doing OK with it for the most part. Hope everyone is having a great weekend. |
