lol brenda....cant have too much advice now can we?

ive learned a LOT this last 6-8 months...funny how easy the eating is when it all starts to make sense in your mind.

i really appreciate Rad and Dbflgirl more than they know...i feel pretty confident that i know a lot about nutrition as well, but i will never be one of those people who think they know it all.... every day is a learning experience for me...so the advice from those 2 is icing on the cake....this site ROCKS!

thanks guys! :bigthumbu

You are right girl. Once you establish the sensible eating habits. It does get easier, and it works!! I have been doing it right, but the calories were always soring. And the darn saturated fats were too high! But, this week I plan on getting it right, and keep it right.
My precentages are much better, the satuated fat has gone down, and the calories have gone down. Now to just keep it this way!
And the best thing of all is the weight is creeping down slowly since I am paying closer attention. Yipeeee! But, the best part is the definition in my muscles are more noticable to others, and myself. That's what I am after more than anything.
YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB, AS I HAVE SAID. I am sure in the end you are going to have that beautiful body that you are going for! :bigthumbu

Good Luck Pammie!

it was a decent day! i did NOT train again tonight because i wanted to make very sure i was over whatever the hell illness i dealt with sunday and monday...we all know how ignorant it is to workout when we are sick right? hahaaaa...
i am happy to report i will be back to training tomorrow! yay! i know its only been 4 days since i lifted but i miss it sumfin fierce and i SO cannot wait to get back to it! i will do legs tomorrow! YEOWCH! :bigthumbu

i did take a few pics this afternoon so i will post them....i know im still a fatty...but i am thrilled with my progress so far!

eating was good today...although i am still trying to freaking figure out how to get the fat ratios in my custom foods at fitday to cooperate...my carb well Ranch dressing says it has 11g fat in it ( OMGGGG) but only 1.5 of those grams is sat fat...it doesnt say what the OTHER 9.5g are at all...how do i make that work for me??? the freakin swiss cheese say 7g fat w/ 4 g saturated leaving the rest unknown....the tuna simply says 2.5g fat...the ham says 3 g w/ 1.5 saturated.....holy gawd! when its all added up it shows me having about 26g unaccounted for fats....is this normal???

at any rate, today was a low carb day for me anyway...which always adds up to high fat, low carbs, high protein...BUT STILL...now i want to know what the hell kinds of fats they are actually putting in this stuff where they cant even list it! i know for sure the ranch dressing is off my menu from now on...i dont really mind the fats being that high, but not knowing what kind it is has me freaked out....good ole oil and vinegar dressing sounds way better and tastes better anyway.

heres what i ate today:

meal 1: wakeup protein shake

meal 2: 1 whole egg, 3 egg whites, 1 slice ham, 1/2 c. broccoli

meal 3: 1.5 cups lettuce, 1 can tuna, 1 slice swiss cheese, 3 slices tomatoe, 2 pickle slices, 2 Tbs carb well ranch

meal 4: can tuna w/ 1 Tbs mayo

meal 5: 2 oz grilled catfish, 7 oz. grilled beef steak, 1 c. spinach

Total: 1657
Fat: 87 782 49%
Sat: 27 244 15%
Poly: 10 92 6%
Mono: 24 218 14%
Carbs: 35 83 5%
Fiber: 14 0 0%
Protein: 186 746 46%
Alcohol: 0 0 0%

i am happy with my fiber today! this is something i am really working on....next time i go shopping you can bet i will buy frozen green beans and lots more veggies! yay!

i was surprised to have gotten a package today! guess what it was?? A PULLUP BAR! heheheheeeeeee....i am super super psyched about it! it came from a great friend and i had NO IDEA it was even on its way....HOW KEWL WAS THAT??? i was surprised as hell and now i cannot wait till i can start using it! tomorrow i will install it in the doorway! YIPPEEEEEEEEEE!! time to SHRED my back!!!

hope you all are kewl and having a fabulous evening! ill be back tomorrow!

edited to add...OOPS i forgot to put in the pictures...hahahahaa....FIRST OFF i HAD to show a pic of me when i was at my heaviest weight...its a picture of a picture but you can still tell its me cant you? LMAO....i am thrilled to have come so far! whew! hell im not done yet my any means!

Pammie, the current nutritional label requires saturated fat, poly, mono to be listed. (If less than 1g for each item, it doesn't have to be listed) Any other fat is a bad fat and does not need to be listed. There is a new nutritional label coming out where they have to list some of the other fats.

If you are eating foods that have a wide variance between total fat and sat/poly/mono then I wouldn't eat it. It sounds like hydrogenated oils to me.

Cool Surprises...

Wow, that's cool.. I could get surprises myself.. but nobody (very very very few people) in the states has my address over here.. ... In case the feds give my friends some truth serum, they can't talk!!! ...

Great progress in the pics too... I would say - Keep it up - ... but it's not even necessary in your case... You're a motivational machine..

Enjoy that pullup bar!!!

Peace..~G

As a rule of thumb, any food that has had a macro removed that normally would have been there, tends to be over-processed and loaded with something that won't be good with you. For instance, when sugars are removed (in an effort to claim a product is low carb), it is typicaly replaced with fat... and not polyunsaturated fat, unfortunately! Likewise, when fat is removed (so that a product can be labeled 'low fat'), typically the fat is replaced with extra sugars and artificial thickeners.

For me, this is part of the reason why I'd rather eat close to nature. Most of what occurs naturally is better for you than that which is created in a lab. Of course there are exceptions -- arsenic springs to mind, for one!

The rule: check your labels. Not just the nutrition portion, but take alook at the ingredients, too. If you see things you don't know what they are, odds are they are not good for you.

Default Food ingredient lables

All foods in the U.S. are required to list the ingredients on an ingredient list near the nutritional label. The order of the ingredients represents the relative amounts of each. If suger is listed first, it means there is more of that than the next ingredient and the last ingredient has the least amount. This is fairly meaningless info for good decision-making.

Trans fats. This is a man-made fat that is not good for your health. Margarine, salad dressing, dips, French fries, donuts, cookies, cake mixes, crackers, and chips all contain trans fats. Beware of the following words: "shortening," "partially hydrogenated vegetable oil" and "hydrogenated vegetable oil." Nabisco and others have bowed to consumer demands and are now marketing products advertised as Trans Fat Free.

MSG MSG has many aliases, such as "hydrolyzed vegetable protein" and "sodium caseinate." This is found in most canned foods and many meat flavored "foods". Like salt, this should be used in moderation.

High fructose corn syrup High fructose corn syrup can be found in most sodas, fruit juices, desserts, and some sports drinks. Some credit the obesity epidemic in America to this one ingredient.

Sugar You know what it is, avoid it.

This is just some of the highlights for this subject.

thanks ya'll....i appreciate your opinions.

i was directed to a fabulous article this morning....you KNOW how i love my articles...heheeee.... the skinny on fats

for the last 6 months i have been seriously researching all the nutritional advice i possibly can get my hands on.... i feel pretty confident that i have a great grasp of how and what i need to eat....and with the progress i am showing i am obviously on the right track...hehehe yay!!...so i will continue to eat as i have been.....no frankenfoods...all clean, whole foods...cycling my carbs starting low carb at the beginning of the week and working my way up towards that all important cheat day on sundays. my fat intake has been fine up to this point so i will continue to do things "my way" all the while keeping into consideration everything you all say to me and suggest.......i already weigh and measure and calculate EVERYTHING and i feel good about it! if i start stressing too much over the small stuff i will get discouraged and theres no need for that now is there? LOL my progress is obvious!

again...please dont stop with your opinions...i learn from everyone's and the most important thing to me is that you all care enough to try to help.
