We are still making repairs, etc. It is completely life-altering. So this year, I have been very relieved (albeit guiltily) that the storms haven't been coming to my area as much. On the other hand, the damned season doesn't end until December 1 so we have lots of time left ![]() Can you believe that in 1992 Hurricane Andrew hit on Aug 23 and in 2005 we are already up to an "R" named storm just one month later in the season? I wonder what happens after "Z"? Looks like we could find out this year. |

| Pink Members | hahah dbflgirl...YUP.... well we are still in the path of the storm....and we will still be going to moms house tomorrow morning...lol weird thing is we will have to go the back roads because they have I-10 totally blocked to any eastbound traffic...they have the entire thing open to westbound traffic....its so weird to see all those cars going the 'wrong way" down the interstate...hahahha love you guys! |

| Pink Members | well as much as we all planned....i think now we are in a wait and see mode...LOL after a discussion with the hubby this morning before he left for work, I have realized that i just need to chill out and wait before trying to get out on the roads and driving to my moms...the storm is now on a north west path and may not even hit Texas! with so many people out on the roads, hubby feels it would be more dangerous to get out in it than to just sit tight and wait to see where the storm goes. it looks like we wont even be getting much of anything out here in austin county except rain....he said it will just be like a regular storm...but if it looks like things will be worse than that, he said he will drive us to my moms when he gets home from work. he said he would be driving there anyway if we were there, so he could just drive us there IF we need to go. i have to agree he might be right and we will barely even see anything from this thing now....even the forcast has shifted to where they think landfall will occur at about 5-6am saturday morning instead of midnight to 2 am tonight... my neighbor lady, who lives at the end of our street in a huge house, also said if we stay and we feel in any way in danger we can come to her house until the storm passes...so i feel good about that as well. all this has made me feel really stupid....i feel like i over reacted and got myself all bent out of shape a few times for nothing. i mean i KNOW its better to be over prepared than not prepared at all...but still...i feel silly in a way and wish i hadnt worked so damn hard these last few days getitng ready...hahaha...im totally exhausted...have worked myself ragged all day every day for the last 3 days...and i almost have nothing left at all! frankly i just want to go to bed and sleep for the next 3 days...LOL hubby's birthday is sunday....lmao...and now i feel as if i have caused him undue stress as well by being freaked out by all this... im not going to dwell on it though....we will simply sit tight and wait to see what the forcast is around noon time and then make a decision. ugh. |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 10 | Pammie, I would have been scared to death myself. Hell, here if we get a tornado warning I am in the basement!! A hurricane warning (even knowing that I was not in direct hit of the thing, would give me a heart attack for sure!! So, no you did not over react. In fact you had me worried to death here! And, I am not even there! Everytime I read a post from you I sat and worried for you and the people in the path of the hurricane! I read that the hurricane shifted, and I am sure that you will still get some bad weather just not as bad as originally expected. Hopefully it will all be OK, for everyone in the path of this thing. I hate to hear about these hurricanes, they are just terrible anymore. You don't just get the tropical storms, these things are vicious! I wish you luck and you and your family stay safe girl ![]() Brenda

| Pink Members | well! it was a fun day pretty much....it was INTERESTING to say the least! we all slept in late this morning...daddy had off work since its his birthday, so we just sorta milled about doing nothing until aorund 10:30 am or so. He and i went to the store and he bought himself a new pair of shoes...yay! then we got the kids something for breakfast...then after that we slowly got ready to go to Katy to see if anything was open and maybe get a bite to eat out at a restaurant. Its so weird how many things are still closed due to people evacuating for the hurricane scare....fast food places, grocery stores, gas stations etc etc....weird stuff.... anyhoooo we took the back roads back to katy since we knew everyone would be trying to get back into town...the traffic was bad on I-10 although not as bad as when everyone was trying to leave all at once... we decided to go bowling once we got into town! it was pretty fun, but the place we went to ended up having computer problems and every few minutes something was going wrong with the game score...or the balls...or something else....it became kinda annoying after a little while, ESP since we paid $50 to bowl for an hour! By the time we were finished with one game we all decided it wasnt worth even trying to play anymore so hubby went to the manager to tell them about all the problems. they offered to give us 30 extra minutes, but the guy copped an attitude with my hubby so hubby declined and we all took off our shoes and started getting ready to leave. when i saw how dissappointed my hubby was at how the management reacted to him trying to tell them about our problems i decided to go up and give them a piece of my mind, in a nice way....LOL....i explained that this was a special occassion....that we werent trying to get anything for free but only trying to inform them of the difficulties we had experienced....the lady i was talking to actually walked off right when i was in mid sentence as if she really could care less....and i was being VERY nice....i wasnt raising my voice or anything! i was just about ready to get really pissed off when this one kid came up and asked me quietly if i had my receipt for the games we played. i gave him the reciept, and he kindly gave us all our money back along with 5 free passes of we ever decide to try them again. this was GREAT! i thanked him so much for being so kind and he apologised for the other 2 people who had acted so rudely...he tried to explain that all day people had been bitching and moaning about the problems and by the time it was our turn to complain they had simply had enough...and i understand that...but STILL....hahha....some people need a little public relations training thats for sure....i tipped the kid well though...and even though he said he couldnt accept a tip, i forced him to put it in his pocket and i felt really good about it. we left the bowling alley and everyone was in a good mood since mommy got all the money back...hahahahaa.....we drove to Red Lobster only to find it was closed...boohooooo~! hahhahaa....but we knew of another one a little farther away, so we called and they were open until 6pm, so we drove over for dinner. They were SWAMPED! they were super short staffed because of people evacuating and so many people were totally freaking out because they had to wait for so long to get a table. we waited about 40 minutes but finally got seated. WE werent being rude to any of the poor people there...we could tell they were trying to do their best with so little staff on hand...but again...i was amazed at how rude people can be...geez! funny thing...our server's name was RITA...hahahhaaaa....we all had a good laugh on that one.... it was a great dinner...except for the kids being crazy and loud most of the time....hahha....but it was fun and we left our server a great tip when we finished....she even brought mitch a birthday sundae at the end of the meal and did NOT sing...VERY KEWL! on the way home everyone ( but me of course since i was driving) fell asleep...hahaha....the roads going west were practically deserted...it was so weird! but of course everyone going back IN (east) had traffic a mess....at one point i saw police lights and then 2 state troopers followed by about a dozen 18 wheelers followed again by 2 more state troopers went by going east...a convoy of supplies for all the stores and stuff that got totally cleaned out during the evacuation....then traffic was WAY screwed up after the convoy...makes you wonder whats more important sometimes...getting in supplies or letting these people get back to their homes.... its crazy how screwed up the evacuation went...in our town ALL the restaurants RAN OUT OF FOOD and were FORCED to close...only McD's is back open so far...the grocery stores all ran out of stuff like bread, lunch meat, chips etc etc....and so many people on the roads were forced to abandon their cars...i counted 57 cars in the 30 mile drive home from Katy...some on the west side of I-10 and some facing west on the east side from when they opened up the "contraflow" lanes on the east bound sides going west bound...not to mention all the other things that went wrong like people needing water...needing a/c...needing gas....food, etc etc....the stories are endless.....and NOTHING even happened. The one thing i fear about all this is that when we have another hurricane scare ( IF we do anytime soon) there will be people that say NO WAY.. im NOT gonna evacuate...its a tough thing... well, im tired...the kids have school tomorrow ( YAY!) and hubby has to work since he had today off for his birthday ( BOOHOO), so im fixin to go to bed and see if i can get some rest. i am planning on going back on induction level carbs for a while starting tomorrow...lifting will resume as well....i am tired of being OFF track....and am totally ready to get back ON track...i feel like i gained at LEAST 5-10lbs this last week eating like a mad woman, so its time to get my shit together and kick my own ass back into shape! YAY! |
