Default Knee reconstruction

Who else had had knee reconstruction? Last week I had my ACL repaired using tendons from my hamstring. It has been 8 days since the operation(Feb 27) and I am able to walk without crutches. I can bend about 80 degrees and am starting physio soon. I am interested in your stories and any advice you have to make my rehab more effective. Thanks

It sounds like you are doing great! I had my acl/mcl/pcl replaced with allografts and had a hell of a time getting full ROM.........I ended up having to gat it manipulated (*ouch!!) But it's pretty good now......the manipulation kinda loosened it up more than they had wanted, but it doesn't give out on me, then again I don't really test it too much other than normal walking (stairs, curbs etc are fine) and I can ride a bike no problem. My injuy was much more severe than yours, but at least you can know that mine got pretty much better..........it's been almost 2 yrs.

You know what is funny is that it never gave out once the whole year I went without it. Are you back in the gym again? I plan on doing lots of biking this summer, but I doubt I will run. I am going to get back in the gym as soon as I am cleared.

Oh yeah, I've been training since Oct. '04. But I have other severe injuries that prevent me from doing anything major with my legs. No squats, dl's.........I'm pretty much confined to left leg presses with light weights and right leg extensions. I don't want to go into the whole thing again, as I've told my story a million times, but I basically have a fused right ankle with no heal pad and the left knee you already know about. The combination is just awful for lifting.

I wrecked a motorcycle at 75mph.
