Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 27 | Hey you guys, Thank you for stopping by and wishing me well during this difficult time. **Rasp, its great to see you back on the boards, bud! **I am still having a hard time of it. I have not worked out since my the day I hurt my back. I found that every exercise, including doing upper body movements, was just causing my back to twinge. Even at work in the weightroom, when I have to train people or do demonstrations, I am in pain....a simple exercise like a leg press is causing a lot of discomfort. It mostly happens doing forward flexion (bending at the waist) or lateral (sideways) flexion or twisting. To heal up, I am taking time off all exercise, except when I am teaching yoga or demo'ing in the weightroom. I have been going in the hot tub at work on my breaks**thanks for the suggestion, Rad** and I as soon as the pain is gone, I have to work with a physio to strengthen my erectors and lower back...a muscle group often neglected... So, as with all my injuries comes a degree of depression. It sent me on a 3 day eating and boozing binge over the weekend. I don't cope well with this sort of thing at all...Now, I am eating clean again..just holding a few pounds of toxins and water which should come off in a few days. So, I will not be posting up anything of worth for a while, but I will be wandering around to your journals while I am out of commission. Thanks again for your encouragement and support. You guys are the best! |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 58 | Sorry to hear that this thing is still hanging on. Do you think one of your lower back muscles might be in a spasm? I had that one and it took about 3 weeks to get it worked out with a chiropractor. Poor baby. ![]() *

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 27 | hey folks, Thanks for all your well wishes during my injury. This not a fun time for me. I miss lifting and I feel my strength will lessen over this time. I had been working hard to build a strong body, especially when doing "body wt." exercises. I had been doing medicine ball push ups and partial lat pull ups.... I was going to start one legged pushups, then one arm pushups, until I messed up my back Oh well, there's always next year.Anyways, as a result of this overtraining injury (and the many others I have sustained this year), I have decided to take a different career path. Instead of teaching and actively training in the gym, I am looking for a management position at a gym or recreation centre. Granted, I don't have a business diploma yet, but I am registering school in the spring to get one. In the mean time, I may get lucky and score a job in the field anyways because of my experience and multiple certifications. So, thats the plan. Wish me luck! |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 27 | Hey guys, Today, I woke up feeling a little better in the lower back, but now I have a cold..arghhh I don't care, this is the last long weekend of the summer until thanksgiving...I'm going on a picnic! The best healing combination I found for my lower back is rest, massage and warm baths (hot tub at work is out of order..grrr) Now this week, I will start my strengthening exercises to get my lower back up to par with the rest of me. I have to take it slow though and not do too much at once. This week has been nice to rest and relax, but it has been strange not working out. I miss it and don't feel like myself unless I am working out consistently. So, I will start off with a couple of full body workouts per week with cardio, then my teaching schedule starts. Unfortunately, due to my obligations, I will have to teach more than just yoga....I will be teaching lo impact aerobics, aquafit and yoga...about 10 classes a week. All of that starts on Sept.12, so I still have a bit more time to recuperate. I think tomorrow I am going to do some cardio...gawd, can you believe it..I miss cardio! ![]() |
