Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 30 | Hey Hibby. Good to see you. I swear by carb cylcing. I just finished using it for a cut and am now trying it for a bulk . The cut was the only time I've *ever* kept (even gained) muscle and lost fat. It's awesome. Good luck with it. *R*

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 16 | Thanks, JJ! I skipped pullups today -- and this will make you realize how old I am - -because I slept on my shoulder funny LAST weekend & it still hurts! LOL I had a rotator cuff injury about 4 years ago and the thing still flares up and bothers me at times. :p I did get in a good back/bis workout, however! ![]() Okie dokie -- I did back/bis today. Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 16 | I'm not! LOL Thanks for asking. I competed twice last year in figure and it was all fine and dandy -- I placed 1st in one contest and 3rd in the other -- and the experience was interesting. It was nice to see I was dedicated enough to make it through it all. HOWEVER -- somewhere along the line I stopped enjoying working out and the benefits of stress relief I got from it -- and started disliking working out and being stressed by it. I also just didn't feel healthy getting so lean, stressing my body so much, the water depletion, the rebound period after the contest, etc. I've gone through so many phases with my workout life. At one point I was leg pressing 815lbs and squatting 215lbs, pulling sleds, etc. Then, I started trying to be kinder to my body and backing off on the weights. Next, I got the wild hair that I was going to compete before I became elderly. Now, I'm working hard to get back to where I was in my thinking and just enjoying working out and having a healthy lifestyle, without it being the thing I focus on most in my life. Anyway, I'm not knocking it and certainly understand the dedication it takes to get contest ready. It's just not something I want to do again. I'd rather just cheer others on. ![]() |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 16 | Very cool! I hope you do fantastic with the competition! It really is an exciting time -- going out on stage and all! Good luck to you!Hi everyone! Hope you all had a nice Easter weekend! We sure did! ![]() I don't know if I've posted here what I'm doing with my nutrition right now -- the carb cycling codex from t-nation. Anyhoo, here's what's been going on for the last few weeks: Week 1, April 4 Weight: 119.4lbs Bodyfat: 16.2% Lean Mass: 100.2lbs Blubber (and other stuff): 19.4lbs Measurements: Waist: 25" Hips: 35.5" :boink: Thighs: 21" Calves: 14.5" Bicep: 10.5" (not flexed) 11.5" flexed Shoulders: 40" Week 2, April 12*This first weighin doesn't count as I'm seriously starting my plan today. It was a first week of indecision (at the beginning) and then debauchery (at the end) with my sister at Hilton Head Island. Weight 121lbs Bodyfat 16.3% [+.1] :boink: Week 3, April 17 Weight: 122.2 (*some of that may be bloat from all the carbs I've been eating the last two days) Bodyfat: 15.7% *Eureka :nosthumbs -- a little progress Lean Mass: 103.01 *doubtful -- I'm betting bloat. Blubber: 19.18 *I'll just do the body measurements monthly. According to Katch-McArdle's formula: My BMR is 1,351.72 Multiplied by my activity factor (I think I chose moderate, which is 1.55) We get: 2,095 calories. Tom Venuto says to start reducing gradually for fat loss by subtracting 20%. So, 2,095 - 419 = 1,676 calories. Carb cycling with high carb days on legs & back workout days, medium carbs on Chest/tris, and shoulder workout days, lower carbs on the other three days. I'll start with these numbers: High Day: 1,835 calories -- 180P/200C/35F Moderate Days: 1,615 calories -- 180P/160C/35F Lower Carb Days: 1,515 calories -- 180P/120C/35F I'll go with that until I plateau & then slowly start bringing the carb #s down across the board by 20 carbs each week or two starting Wednesday. The carbs will be eaten in the first three meals with 30% in first meal, 40% post workout, and 30% in third meal. The other three meals will be protein/fat/fibrous veggies. Oh, and I'm trying to stay away from processed foods, and dairy and wheat products. I will eat fruit twice a day before lunch, keep my fiber up with the fruit (and veggies I'll be eating later), and drink five 24 oz. water bottles a day. My fat sources will be eggs, extra virgin olive oil, walnuts, any lean red meat I eat, and salmon. I may take a few supps: BCAAs, multivitamin, vitamin C, B-50, Calcium/magnesium, glutamine, sometimes a whey shake, L-Carnitine and perhaps later in the game, some Lipo 6. I dunno yet If I missed anything feel free to point it out to me. That's all. :p Happy Monday!! |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 16 | If that's you in the avi, RaSP, I can't wait either! ![]() Hi Vanessa! Thanks so much! Today marks the second week of my plan and I'm dropping carbs by 20 across the board -- so high days will be 180 carbs, moderate, 140, and low, 100. Have to work today. :p Yuck! |
