Hey Game Day, doing well thanks. The Opium season is all but over for right now, so we're expecting the "fight" to pick up again. Especially now that they have new funds to draw from...our next big thing to deal with will be the corn season...they'll grow it right up to the edge of the areas we have to drive through...then it's too easy to lay in an ambush and wait. Of course we have the minigun...3,500 rounds per minute...shoot at me through your cornfield...and mama looses out on her crop this year.

Hey Everyone,
For those that didn't catch it on the national news, our sister team that's here with us at our firebase got into a fairly substantial firefight. They had one KIA. Chris was a new member to the team having just recently graduated from the Q course. He had been in country for a little over a month. The other 6 that were wounded are all recovering nicely. Our medics were the real heros. They saved the lives of three that were seriously injured until medevac birds arrived and could get them to a hospital.

awww...thanks Pammie. And coming from a fellow Texan too (I'm from Wichita Falls).

It's not so bad, some days may be a little more stressful than others, but it's all part of the job. And....I love my job!

Just finished my leg workout...decided to give up on that whole "give your body some rest" theory...my boys are getting way too close to my numbers (as the old man of the group I gotta have something to hang on to). So when my partner (15 yrs my junior) hit 495 for 3 reps squatting...I had to rise to the challenge (previous BEST was 505 for 4). My Green Beret Ego just won't let me give in that easily.....

SO....I reset the bar for the kiddies..........(drumroll please.....) new Squat Personal Best 525 lbs for 3 reps!!!!

Thanks Pammie and JJ. I'm certain I'll be feeling the effects for a day or two, but right now I'm feeling pretty good. I just hope my ego doesn't eventually get the best of me. The advantage I have though is knowing I can break 500. Now if I can just get that deadlift over the 500 mark.

Since you just got 495 on deadz, I'm sure 500 will come quickly. Was that just one rep at 495? Either way it's still an good lift.

I may catch you on deadz, but I'm thinkin the 525 is a ways off. That is such an awesome lift!

I've done 495 about 4 or 5 different times now. Each time it was a single lift not reps. I honestly don't think I've repped any DL weight beyond 365. Although I might have done 405 a couple of times (maybe 2 or 3 reps). I would have to look through old logs to see.

I tried the 500 again yesterday (because I'm a dumba$$)....missed it by "that much." I was probably two to three inches from lockout. I think it's all mental...something about going from a 4## to a 5##. But yesterday's failure probably had a lot to do with my heavy squat the day before. Yea, yea, yea, I hear ya. Stupid ego! I'll lay off for 2-3 weeks and shoot for it again.

Where are you RaSP on your goal to hit 500? I've found that by doing DL every other week I improved faster. On my off weeks I do hyperextensions on the roman chair. Currently I'm doing it while holding a 100 lb dumbbell (8-10 reps).
