Default dnyc99's heavy lifting=sexy sexy sexy! Journal

D started out trying to lose weight at 220lbs... mostly by doing cardio...with a little weight training on the side....but nothing too heavy at first...

one day a friend of hers gave her a lifting routine to follow, so she started doing it and before long she realized how much she enjoyed lifting!! she has excelled ever since!

i am THRILLED to announce that this beautiful lady now weighs 158lbs and is VERY strong! she has discovered a love for lifting heavy and never ceases to amaze me with her ability to kick ass in the weight room! over the last year she has seriously embraced lifting as a way of life and has made learning about nutrition and what works for her body top priority....this, combined with heavy lifting, has made a serious difference in the way her body looks!!

i am excited to have been able to direct D to this site....she and i met at another forum and immediately connected and started becoming friends and pushing each other in our workouts...anytime she would increase her weights i would increase mine, and visa versa...hehehe....it was very motivating and we formed a great friendship!!

i know you will all fall in love with her fabulous personality and zest for working out just as i have over the last year...and her body is fantastic! i can only dream of looking so great!!

Pammie thanks for the compliment. I have a long way to go still but, I'm happy with my progress. Now if only I had a pair of guns like yours I'd be set!

Oh I guess I should mention that I'm a shortie @ 5'6".

Wow I went back in my old journal and found that my weight lifting start date was May 30, 04.

So about 1-1/2 years of weight lifting.

I think that you may be able to help me. Shoot, I just started about 3 months ago, I am a newbie to this, you have the experience. Especially if Pammie and you are partners she has been doing fantastic.

RF/Brenda,(you look familiar?) it's a pleasure meeting you! Thank you for the compliments. You know in the first year you'll put on a lot of lean muscle mass. Work em' hard. :dumbells:


I'll tell you a bit of how a got started. My friend started me on a begginers workout program that was training 3x a week, every workout included legs. It's a pretty compact program.

I didn't have any 'fancy' equipment. I love free weights anyhow.
I only had a barbell, 2 db's, about 100lbs of iron plates and a couple of plastic cement filled ones, and a chair. Like Pammie we had to get creative with our workouts. I wish I had a squat rack back then cause I would have been able to work my leg muscles a lot more...especially my quads. I was doing all 'clean and press' with a 95lb barbell and then place it over my shoulders for all sets of squats, calf raises, lunges etc. It really helped develop my shoulders but, my right shoulder was giving me lots of pain to the point where I had to cut back on some exercises (sets) or skip it altogether.

So about 2 months ago I got my new home gym...with a bench and rack! I can do pull-ups on them too!! First time I did pull-ups about 2 month ago I was ecstatic. Imagine lifting your entire body with just your two arms! It's a great feeling. I started out with 2 and now I'm up to 4.

I can bench press 100lbs and today I will go up higher. (Pammie LoL)

So that's a bit of how I got started...

Now Pammie and I are back to doing a great program called BGB (Baby got back) 4 day split and it gives fabulous results IMO.

whohooooo! cmon girl give those 110lb bench presses a shot...i nailed 2 sets of them yesterday and was PSYCHED!!!!! heheee i KNOW you can do it!! hell you can do 4 pullups?? WOWZERS! i cant even do one i dont think...still too heavy...but i WILL SOON! now that i have this kewl pullup bar you can bet ill be trying my ass off to get it done!

Ok workout today:


HIP/HAMSTRING DOMINANT LEGS; TRICEPS

HAMSTRING DOMINANT, short heavy sets

• RDLs 5 sets @165lbs 4-4-3-2 (grip kept slipping with these..my hands were gettin' sweaty...Ewww. LoL I need straps or chalk)

• Barbell Straight Leg Deadlift 5 sets@115lbs 7-5-5-5 (going heavier on these next time).


Quads, longer sets:
• ATF Squats 3 sets @100lbs 10-10-9

Triceps
• Close grip bench press 4 sets, 1x3 @120lbs, 6-6-6 @100lbs
• Tricep press down 3 sets @ 30lbs 8-7-6


Hey Pammie...I tried close grip bench press with 120lbs only got 3 reps in. :weight_li LoL

You know funny thing I miss calculated..I had 100lbs on the bar and added two 10lb plates to @ side. I thought I had put 5lb plates on a side. It's no wonder when I went down to 100lbs the bar felt way lighter. Doh!

I can't believe I did 3 reps at 120lbs though..and these were close grip. I find them harder than wide grip bench presses.

holy SHIT you biatch 120lb close grips??? whohoooooooo! you kicked my ass thats for sure!! hehehheeeee

great job on the workout yesterday!! i know what you mean about losing grip...i love my straps and aint afraid to use them. so many people get all bent out of shape ( esp powerlifters) when they hear i use straps but the way i see it...if the straps help me do my lifts and concentrate on hitting the body parts i am trying to hit thus building my body i dont give a rats ass who doesnt like it! heheee

i am thinking about trying out chalk too though....will be interesting!


today i will do Verticle push/pull!

hopefully these dayum allergies will stay in check since i took a benedryl first thing this morning....we shall see..... :fruity:
