Default animalfan's training log

i just wanted to post this to make myself finally start a log.

i suppose a quick re-introduction should be given. i've been a member here for a while- haven't posted in forever. i'm 34, married, and have 3 kids. i have a 9 year old son (lives for baseball and hockey), a 3 year old daughter (my princess), and a 1 year old son (just starting to walk). i quit drinking 5 years ago, and quit smoking about two years ago. i am just starting back up lifting after a 5 week break. i hurt my tailbone pretty bad snowboarding, couldn't do much for the last few weeks.

for the next month i'm going to keep the weights a bit low, reps high to get myself back into it. here's my plan:

monday
lying leg raise- 2x20
crunches- 2x20
30 minutes on the treadmill

tuesday
deadlifts- 5x8-10
barbell rows- 5x10-12
chins- 5 to failure
close grip bench/ ez bar curl superset 3x10-12
tate presses/ hammer curl superset 3x10-12

wednesday
same as monday

thursday
bench press- 3x10-12
incline db press- 3x10-12
incline flyes- 2x12
military press- 3x10-12
lateral raise/ rear lateral superset- 3x12

friday
same as monday

saturday
squats- 4/5x10-12
leg curl/ leg extension superset- 2x12-15
standing calf raise- 5x15-20

sunday
rest

i'm not really sure about the treadmill on mon/wed/friday, i'll have to make time to do it in the mornings. well, morning for me is around 11:30 am. i work the nightshift in a shop, so i don't get home until 2:30 am at the earliest. i wake up whenever my kids wake me, so sometimes i don't get enough sleep.

i don't track my diet right now, but it's usually pretty clean. i know i should keep track of it, maybe i'll start, but for now i just want to get back into the gym.

i'll try to get this a little more organized, it's been a couple years since i kept a log.

thanks for stopping by!

i did 30 minutes on the treadmill today, and 2 sets of 20 on crunches and leg raises. my diet was good, stayed out of the junk food.

i'm going to try to get some pics up this weekend- i won't see my wife until then. can't wait to lift tomorrow!

todays workout:

bench press- 135x3x12
incline db press- 45x3x10
incline flyes- 25x2x12
military press- 95x2x10
lateral raise/ rear lateral superset- 20x2x12

this was planned for thursday, but i ran into a buddy that needed a spotter for benches, so i worked mine in with him. everything went well, felt good to be lifting again. i'll hit deads on thursday.

wednesday 1/30

jumped rope for 15 minutes (took short breaks every few minutes) for the first time in a few months, i forgot how hard it is! after that i did some abs. i had a retirement party to go to, so my diet wasn't so good. too much cheesecake to say no to... mmmm, cheesecake.

i can't wait for deads tomorrow!

thursday 1/31

deadlift- 4x185x8, 1x225x8
barbell rows- 4x135x10
chins- 5 to failure (9,8,8,7,6)
close grip bench/ ez bar curl superset 3x135x10/ 3x55x10
skullcrusher/ hammer curl superset 3x65x10/ 3x25x10

probably could've gone a bit heavier, but felt good anyways.

friday 2/1

just did abs, and some bridges with my daughter on my back. i've been working until 3:30am (10 hours) all week, so i laid in bed longer than usual today.

squats tomorrow- can't wait!

it was alot easier than quitting smoking! sometimes i still have a smoke when i get really pissed or stressed, always at work...

anyways, i drank about a 5th of jagermeister (jager-bombs) and a 12 pack of miller and made an ass out of myself. the next day i realized it had been happening too often, and decided to quit. that was on new year's day '03. i lost a few friends after that, they just couldn't understand why i didn't want to go out to the bars on the weekends anymore. honestly, though, if i hadn't quit i probably would either be dead, in jail, or not have a driver's license. i was always the one who seemed to be the most sober and ended up driving.

it was hard for a few months, then i didn't drink at all for 4 years. i did have 2 beers last year, one on my wife's birthday and one on mine. my wife still drinks sometimes, but only a couple of beers during a baseball or football game.

thanks for stopping by my log- good luck on getting back to lifting! i know it's hard, it had only been a few weeks for me, and it seems impossible to get back into the schedule. i don't know how i used to do it 4 days a week before, and i was always off on sat and sunday...

just wanted to drop in and say sorry for the lack of updates... my computer isn't doing very well, so i had to buy a new one.

i've also been working a ton of overtime since last month, still hitting the gym though. i haven't been doing any cardio, so it looks like i'll be sportin' a shirt again, at least through early summer... anyways, i'll try to update regularly again.
