victor martinez and marijuana use

Victor Martinez admitted on pro bodybuilding weekly that he uses marijuana. I haven't heard it but it is going all over bb.com. He says he smoked with cormier. What does everything think about it?

I have read several studies indicating that THC actually supresses natural testosterone production. Not that those guys are too worried about "natural" testosterone production.

When I was in Highschool, and had just begun training, I had friends who tried to convince me to smoke with them. The reason I didn't was that I had read the studies about pot supressing test production, and I didn't want to hurt my gains... True Story... and the reason I said NO to pot!

it doesn't surprise me.... some things bodybuilders do really tell me they aren't as intelligent as you may think they are. Tom Prince has a masters degree in english from Minnesota, I am sure he is highly intelligent, but people like Victor Martinez who buys a gym and then leaves with everyones money and doesn't tell anyone really hurt the IFBB

& i dont think most pros need to worry about test supression... they got that covered already.

I think the lowest point was that he said he has done it with chris cormier. That means he just snitched on his friend without his permission. That isn't the publics right to know that without Cormier admitting to it.

Yeah thats the only thing i disagree with... I dont think less of him for smoking ... but snitching is never cool... :mask:

Shit I'm sure there are guys using way heavier drugs then pot. I'm sure there are coke abusers etc.. pot is pretty small time although I don't do it anymore because it just makes me to mellow.

I got the same information in high school, and I've also heard it causes gyno in heavy teen users of marijuana. But then no one I knew that smoked heavily got gyno.

But anyway, I was cautious like you EME. I've been training since high school and never used it myself.

Not sure if that was a typo, or if I had just heard something on the news about THG and it was on the brain... funny.

( Just for the record.. THG probably supresses natural test production too!.. It just isn't in marijuana! )

Builtbeast, it stands to reason if your natural test production is artificially lowered that your test / estrogen levels could be out of whack and it could lead to gyno... especially during teen years when hormones are elevated anyway. Makes sense, but a person would probably have to be very susceptible to the test lowering effects, and they might also have to be prone to gyno to begin with. With that combination, I don't think it would be too far fetched to see gyno develop from long term regular use in teens.

hear the type of illicet drugs some of your beloved top bodybuilders use. aas are drugs. they are not candy and should be taken seriously but the majority of users act like they are completely benign which is complete and utter bullshit. if you have a problem coming off gear completely for a year or more than you're a drug addict in my opinion unless, you rely on competitive bodybuilding or another sport to make a living. I'de much rather hsee a bb using a lil weed than popping pain pills daily which many bodybuilders do.

Although I don't smoke, I think MJ should be legalized. (I think being a non-smoker makes me unbiased when I say that.) Alcohol is argubly more dangerous than any other drug.

Besides that though......I wouldn't think that a pro would want to smoke because of the adverse effects on testosterone. But if he does it, I can't say that I really care one way or the other.

I've had people try to convince me to smoke pot in the past. I agreed to do it, so long as they'd give me a decent sized bag of the shit for free. Funnily enough, they never agreed and I am yet to smoke marijuana.
