Ruhl on his poor placing at the Olympia.. "I had no chance"

My dear bodybuilding friends,

Regarding my bad placing at this year’s Mr. Olympia contest I like to give you a short review. More informations will follow within the next two weeks.

I am very surprised and dissapointed about what happened wrong during my contest preparation.

During the carbing-down season I got pretty hard and dry and was very pleased with my shape. But somehow there got something terribly wrong during the carbing-up. Even at the last night before the contest I thought my shape would be good enough for a Top-6-placing.

But when I arrived backstage at the following morning I did not feel very well anymore. My veins were hiding, my back went smooth and even my traditional body volume was not present anymore.

So I had no chance at the pre-judging and my low placement became determined.

After the judging I went to my room to have a copious meal and some Gatorade drinks.

Somehow that seemed to bring back about 70% of my former shape, but nevertheless I had no chance to place successfully anymore.

That was a very dissappointing experience for me.

In the meantime I am looking optimistically to the my future again and I am thinking about my next plans and contest schedules.

I will keep you posted.

He was definitely disappointing. I was shocked by the lack of his traditional size. Interesting to hear that even experienced pros can miss their peak that badly!

He was small ( for him of course ) and smooth.. really missed his peak badly.

IMO, Markus just needs to be what he is.. an Huge freak. I think he was trying to compensate the for the fact that they were going to be judging down on bellies.. and the changes he made just didn't work out well for him.

Hopefully he'll put it together better for his next show. I bet he will.

I have no idea. He was as soft as anyone. Very disapointed. But I am hoping that this will put him in a lot more shows this year, and we will see a lot more of Markus. I hate seeing top pros just once or twice a year.

I don't know if he'll get an invite after his showing at the Olympia, but it's hard to say what they'll base the invites on.

Certainly he'll have lots of fans who would like to see him there.

I hope he gets an invitation to compete as well. I'd like to see him too!

Gunter and Ruhl are my faves because they actually have some personality and are enormous. I felt really bad for Ruhl this year because you could almost see it in his eyes that he knew he didn't look as good as he has in the past and wasn't really giving it his all.

Gunter is another one i never cared for before and despised his physique... but damn... he really brought it together this year and made a fan outta me... If he can keep coming in like he did at the O and makes improvements i wish nothing but the best for him. :nosthumbs

I was surprized he placed so low. Cutler has a little .gif image on his site saying 2006 will be different, so I guess he's determined to knock Colmen off his high horse :P

How will next year be different than this year. He would have to be head and shoulders (or lats and bis!) above Coleman to have a chance to dethrone the reigning Olympia. Nobody's gonna dethrone Ronnie but Ronnie himself--the judging is too screwed up.
