Olympia prize money raised

The prize money for the 2005 O has been raised from $540,000 to $661,000.
The purse for the Mr. Olympia contest has been raised by $101,000, Ms. Olympia by $10,000 and the Fitness and Figure events by $5,000 each.

Looks like more money for big ron...

Amen to that. Found out yesterday that the professional bass fishers will have a tourney next year that will pay the winner 1 million dollars. Isn't that a shame.

Agreed. The lower levels need more pay, not the top 1%.

Good point. It is rediculous that if you finish 5th in a pro show other than our top 2 events, you may get 1-2k. That is horrible.

Yeah, that is my opinion too, I wonder who will win the best wheels award? I think it will go down to Ronnie, Jay, and Federov. Maybe branch warren if he makes it.

How in the world does the IFBB justify paying the 10th place finisher $12,000 and then drops all the way down to $2,000 for the 11th place finisher? Granted I'm happy to see the top tier guys seeing a reasonable increase in award money but what about everyone else? I hope MD will still have their Freakazoid award and maybe they'll even increase the prize money.

Yeah I liked the freakazoid award, but I doubt they will have it this year. I think the viraloid award will take it's place.

That's really too bad. I liked the fact that people like Marcus Ruhl would have been recognized even if largely ignored by others. Why do you think it will be discontinued? I'm not familiar with the Viraloid award, isn't that a supplement company?

Viraloid is a supplement that sponser's Shawn Ray. It will go to the best legs in the competition. AMI probably has 1 opening for a company to do this each olympia.
