Michigan Bodybuilding

A lot of big names have come out of the Wolverine state. I'll try to post some pics and facts. Craig Titus was born and raised in Wyandotte, Mi. (adjacent to my town of Southgate) Met him around 4 years ago. He's really a decent guy (and his wife is hot/LOL).

While a youngster (yes, I really was) in the late 50's and early 60's, I was a fan of professional wrestling. A local wrestler whom we (all the guys my age) admired was Dick (Mr. Michigan) Garza. I believe this photo is from 1954. (now we are talking the "olden days")

Probably the most famous BB to be connected with Michigan is Mr. Legs, Tom Platz. I actually saw him win the Mr. Michigan contest (in the Oak Park HS Auditorium/forget the year-sometime in the 70's). He was pretty awesome then and swept every trophy except poser.

Although not as famous, he was a contemporary of Platz, and trained and resided in Dearborn for some time. He went on to win the ultimate title of Mr. Olympia. Can you guess who he is?

This gentleman was a Mr. Michigan winner and went on to some national fame. I present, Kent Kuehn.

In the late 60's (the hippie years) there was an "art community" in Detroit located on Plum Street. That is where I first saw the largest arms I had ever seen in my life (in real person). This gentleman was famous for his vascularity, and I believe had a short wrestling career. He died recently of a heart attack. Here is Don Ross.

This man was a Mr. Michigan winner, and competed for a number of years on the professional circuit doing very well. He was a former Detroit Police Officer, and used to frequent the bank where my wife formerly worked. Ron Love.

I didn't know he was originally from Michigan!

Bro, I don't know if this is the guy, because there is no mention of his local comps. but this guy (Harry Johnson) placed 13th in the 1999 NPC Nationals/Super Heavy, and also competed in the 2003 NPC Nationals in the Heavys (or maybe vice versa

). I think he is currently 42.

Not Skip LaCour, it's Harry Johnson. My only question is if he is the Harry Johnson that won a Mr. Michigan contest.

That's him from I think his heaviest at 242 which was 1999.
