how about a fitness chick who does not go tanning? why anyone thinks tanning is more attractive compare to light skin is beyond me

If you're talking about an actual competitive fitness or figure girl then the tans are required. Some of them don't actually tan much in the sun, but they have to use the tanning products to get dark for the stage. If you walk on stage white... you might as well just go home. No matter how great their condition is, you won't see a cut on stage under those stage lights unless you are really dark. The dark color absorbs light showing the cuts, rather than reflecting it like light skin does.

Most of the photoshoots you see done of competitive Fitness and Figure competitors are done either in the days leading up to, or just after a competition, so they are in their best possible condition. Many of the girls don't walk around looking anything like that off season. So, since the shots are taken at contest time, they are almost always going to be dark. Occasionally you'll see someone do a shoot without Pro Tan... but not very often. Even the shoots where they may not look like they are really dark, they are usually wearing extra color.

But hey, nothing wrong with liking light skin! It would be a boring world if we were all the same, or all liked the same things! :bigthumbu

well at least there is a reason behind why competitors tan. i thought it had to do with our society saying tans are attractive,where as in the roman culture tans were seen as ugly and light white skin is what everyone wanted
