Unless we get more money coming into the sport ( and out to the athletes ) it might be!

I just saw this week on ESPN that the Bass Master Classic this year has $ 1,000,000 in prize money, with $ 500,000 going to the winner alone.

It's sad that people chasing fish around a lake are getting so much more money than our pro Athletes.

Sure the Arnold gives away some good money to the winner....
But, aside from it and the Olympia, the prize money for professional Bodybuilding, Fitness, and Figure shows is miserable.

We need more money in our sport! Surely the Multi Billion dollar fitness industry ( especially the supplement industry ) can fork over more money for the shows.

One thing to note though.. politics are involved too... the GNC tried to give away some big money this year.. and instead got their sanction denied.

Hmmmmm..... Bassfisherman making 5 times more money in one tournement than the winner of our biggest bodybuilding show.

This is true, it is going down hill in my opinion. At least the IFBB. Did you all hear about the new bodybuilding federation in ASIA that is paying 500,000 to the winner of certain competitions? Look what they did for BOB SAPP, who is a multi millionare and hero of many people over there... Who knows.

It's simple, people can relate to sports like fishing, football, hockey, golf etc, etc.. because even though they may not be able to play at the same level they can understand how the game is played and play it themselves. It's VERY difficult for the general public to relate to chemically enhanced freaks that the vast majority of people do not want to look like. BB has doomed itself by making it a sport that the average Joe cannot relate to. Back in the day when you'd have big guys with great bodies, you'd have people thinking "man I'd like to look like that maybe if I hit the gym hard I could". Now it's "that guy is a total roid freak, gross, who want's to look like that and kill themselves with a heart attack". I'd say going back would fix it but it won't because no one will except smaller champs anymore.

You know, it was easy for me to like bodybuilding. I love super heroes when I was little. I love the huge freaks and to me that is as close to super as it will get.

Supposedly they've already sent out 25 letters to the pro bbers that they want to sign contracts with.

Yeah I have heard that, i wonder who they went after. What if Ronnie Coleman wins his 8th and then transfers over to China or something. He is almost as big as Bob Sapp, They may be looking for another monster.
