Default FREAKS!

OK list the bodybuilders that growing up just made you go "holy shit! Look at that guy!" I'm talking the guys that had something so out of this world they left your jaw hanging open! I'll start with the first guy that ever freaked me out...
Tom Platz! Back when I was a kid no one had legs like this guy, they were so incredibley huge and cut I thought he must be an alien..lol. Then I saw the massive amounts of weight the guy was pushing and it inspired me to work even harder in the gym. I'll add more later.

Well of course Arnold and Franco and all the boys back then inspired me, but when i first started i picked up a bbing magazine and just turned to a page and seen Dorian Yates. After that i was just thinking about what it would be like to be that size.

Another guy that made you go WOW was Vic Richards when he first came on the scene. You'd always think if that guy could just get cut he'd be amazing. Sadly he never could dial it in.

I always mention this guy whenever anyone asks anything about "Favorite Bodybuilders", but seeing Shawn Ray on stage, wining the NPC Nationals in 1987 made me say.....Man, I want to do that!

To me, he looked like a statue that had come to life. Everything was perfect.

I had already been into bodybuilding for about 2 years, and knew what the guys at the time looked like..

Lee Haney was one of my original idols...Platz had the huge legs... Gaspari had the freaky veins and cuts everywhere..

But when I saw Shawn Ray... that was it. I knew I wanted to compete.

The other guys made me want to train. Seeing Ray on stage made me want to compete!! I did my first show the next year.

I remember how much bigger Nasser El Somboty was at the 99' Arnold. He even made Jay Cutler look small.
