Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 161 | Its 2 months old news... but no one ever posted anything about it... Fannie Barrios passed away on August 7th, 2005 around 2am in the morning approximately, after spending the day and evening before doing what she loved, spending her time at a bodybuilding show. She wasn't competing in the NPC Southern States in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, she was helping out backstage with the competitors. Her husband, Alex, was competing that evening, and everything was fine. That is, until they were back in their hotel room. While not exactly sure of the cause of death, reports of the incident said that she suffered a stroke. Other reports said that a blood clot or an aneurysm caused the fatality. It really doesn't matter. But what is stunning is that a 39 year old, who was one of the nicest competitors and rarely complained about things, was passed away. Fannie leaves behind her husband Alex Ramirez and a daughter, Johadynis, who is 13. Our thoughts and Deepest sympathies go out to her husband, daughter, family and friends. Fannie Josefina Barrios was born in Caracas, Venezuela on May 30th, 1966. Competitively, she was a Venezuelan champion in 1997 and 1998. She was the winner of a contest called the 'Absolute Center of the Americas' in San Salvador in 1998 - an event that qualified her to turn pro in the IFBB. She made her pro debut at the IFBB Jan Tana Classic in 1999. The Jan Tana event was one of her favorite contests and she experienced her best placing as a pro winning the middleweight class at the 2001 Jan Tana Classic. Fannie loved the competitive side of bodybuilding and entered many contests as a pro competing in the Show of Strength, the Ms. International, the Women's Extravaganza, and the Ms. Olympia, as well as the Jan Tana Classic. Barrios competed in three successive Ms. Olympia events placing eighth in 2001, third in 2002 (her best Ms. Olympia finish), and sixth in 2003, all as a lightweight. Her final competition was the recent 2005 New York Pro Championships on May 21, 2005 where she finished third. Fannie moved to Florida in 2000 to concentrate her efforts as a pro bodybuilder and work as personal trainer in the South Beach/Miami area. Her pro contest history included 1999 IFBB Jan Tana Pro Classic - 17th place 1999 IFBB Pro Extravaganza - 11th place 2001 IFBB Jan Tana Pro Classic - Middleweight 1st place 2001 IFBB Ms. Olympia - Lightweight 8th place 2002 IFBB Jan Tana Pro Classic - Lightweight 1st place 2002 IFBB Ms. International - Lightweight 3rd place 2002 IFBB Ms. Olympia - Lightweight 3rd place 2002 IFBB Show of Strength Pro - Lightweight 3rd place 2003 IFBB Ms. International - Lightweight 6th place 2003 IFBB Night of Champions - Lightweight 4th place 2003 IFBB Ms. Olympia - Lightweight 6th place 2004 IFBB Ms. International - Lightweight 4th place 2004 IFBB Night of Champions - Lightweight 6th place 2005 IFBB Ms. International - Lightweight 6th place 2005 IFBB New York Pro - Lightweight 3rd place RIP
