Steroids? Nah, too many facets to lock it down but training has progressed and diet as well. The supps and sciences surrounding optimal dose and timing etc. It's a whole package. Most of your steroids you probably come across were out back then too. PCT is also a recent item. IGF, insulin use etc etc.

Steroids were there.

Personally I think Arnold is still great. He was not as big as a Coleman or a Cutler but he had more classic lines than some of today's monsters. Of course judging a physique is very subjective.
