Bodybuilder of the week #4... Bev Francis

Bev Francis is one of the most accomplished bodybuilders and powerlifters in history. Bev was born on February 15, 1955 in Australia. She began seriously training in 1974 while at the University of Melborne Australia. She graduated in 1976 with a degree in physical education. From 1977-1982 (with the exception of 1980) Bev was a member of the Australian Track and Field Team. She competed in Shotput, Javelin, and even was a reservist in the 100m which is unheard of to me who has never seen a strength olympic athlete compete in running events also.

Bev Francis is an accomplished powerlifter and has never been beaten in competition. Between the years of 1980-1985 Bev was the world powerlifting champion. She is also the first woman ever to bench 300 lbs! Her best lifts are.. Squat 500lbs. Bench Press 335lbs. Deadlift 501lbs. (1336 total!). She was also the star of Pumping Iron II. Bev was an accomplished bodybuilding star and won the 1987 IFBB Professional World Bodybuilding Champion and finished in the top 3 in numerous Olympia.

Outside the gym she has worked as a teacher in mathmatics and history and is married with two children. Currently she owns one of the best gyms on the east coast. Powerhouse gym is reknown as a great gym and has endorsements from many football players and bodybuilders.
