Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 113 | Hey guys: I just bought some freeform bulk arginine from NOW foods. It's my first time with arginine, so i have a few questions for those who have taken this fun little amino in supplement dosages. I'm thinking at LEAST pre-training and right before bed. Does anyone have experience with taking it in the morning too? Does it need to be taken with a simple carb?

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 128 | I can't speak from personal experience, but I went and grabbed a book off my shelf that I knew had some info on Arginine in it (Building the Perfect Beast Naturally by Author L Rea and Eric Broser - the part about arginine is written by ALR, whose knowledge I definitely respect). He says that it's best to take it on an empty stomach, because when taken with other foods/nutrients/amino acids, then they all have to fight to get to the brain, whereas if you take arginine alone on an empty stomach, it doesn't have to compete with any other nutrients to pass through the blood-brain barrier, thus reaping more of it's benefits. There is also a paragraph that states that half of orally ingested L-Arginine is converted into L-Ornithine, and that supplementing your L-arginine intake with L-Ornithine greatly decreases the amount of L-Arginine that is converted, so you get more out of it. Again.... this isn't from personal experience... hope it helps though. |
