Cissus has worked for me. Also, if you are taking anything that lowers your estrogen TOO much, you can have joint pain.

Make sure you are warming up correctly too, before taking on those heavyweights.

glucosamine has some studies behind it saying that it lowers insulin sensitivity.

BAD. Some other studies support the notion that Glucosamine and Chodroitin isn't any more effective then Chondroitin itself.

Thats up to you.

Personally, I have had tendiniti's issues in my right knee and right wrist. Fixed it with fish oil/flax seed.

Personally, I prefer just fish oil, I take only 15g a day and it keeps my joints feeling healthy, plus its good for fat loss. If that doesn't suit you, and you don't mind spending some money, Biotest (store @ t-nation.com) you can get Flameout fishoil. That stuff is great. It helped me with my tendninitis more then 4g of fish and flax seed oil did, by itself.

Right now I'm doing 15g fish oil, plus 4 of the flameout. My joints that normally hurt, don't. Everything is good, trust the fish oil!

cissus works great, fish oil works but takes about a month to really see the joint relief. chondroitin/gsm takes almost 3 months to really take effect.

like mac said, warming up is key. anytime I'm doing anything that involves my knees, elbows or shoulders I always do atleast 2 light warm up sets to make sure my tendons/joints are loose and warmed up.

you sure? I felt a lot better after about a week of mega dosing fish oil.

Ya, you have to warm up properly. My warm ups take about 15-20mins.

Good advice in here, I use a fish oil/flax combo and a Glucosamine/MSN combo which totally eliminates all the pain.

Another study says Glucosamine and Chondroitin does not work at all. (That same study says it is very effective for older folks.)

Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM and Fish Oil capsules work great for me. I am prone to tendonitis, so I also take anti-oxidants like blueberry juice, Vitamin C and green tea.

Default Re: Joints/Tendons

I have had occasional pain in my elbows when exercising, especially when I did my first PH cycle a few years back. I noted that because of my strength increase, my rep weight increased of course and that was great but, apparently my joints and tendons did not agree with my rep weight increases. I then started taking ISS Therajoint which contains Glucosamine, Chondroitin and some other goodies, together with Omega 3-6-9 oil caps. With these two products I personally have not had any joint problems and I believe helped me do my w/o's with more increased intensity and be more enjoyable.

If your joints/tendons become painful, it’s best to lighten up on the weight for a while and especially remember to warm up the joints in addition to your muscles before working out because, the structure of a joint consists of ligaments surrounding two bony surfaces covered with cartilage and is lined by a synovial membrane filled with synovial fluid. This fluid provides a slippery surface between the cartilage acting like a lubricant, so the cartilage glides over smoothly on weight bearing joints.

So, warm up first in order to start producing synovial fluid that protects the joints. Glucosamine and Chondroitin, help in the production of cartilage and synoviol fluid. (When age, as in my case or tissue traumas occur the synoviol fluid becomes thinner and is less effective.) Also, Glucosamine needs a little time to work into your system.

For those who may not know, Glucosamine is derived from shellfish and those individuals who may be sensitive or allergic to any form of shellfish should ask your MD for advice before using products containing Glucosamine.
