Default Introduction to Supplements Guide

The Intro to Supplements Guide

Protein: is the most essential supplement for muscle gain. Muscles are made of a combination of protein and water. Protein can be obtained from a variety of food sources but its efficiency to be absorbed in the body varies greatly. Sources of protein include nuts, chicken, dairy products and eggs. Insufficient protein intake can seriously impair muscle gains and can in fact result in muscle loss.

Best Tasting: Syntrax Nectar, CytoSport Musclemilk
Best Price: Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard, Higher Power Whey
Gainers: CytoSport CytoGainer, ErgoPharm Mass Meal
Casein: Optimum Nutrition Casein

Creatine: Creatine has been proven in clinical studies to increase strength, cell volume, endurance and recuperation. There are no known dangers involved in supplementing creatine.

Creatine Monohydrate: EAS Phosphagen HP
Kre-Alkalyn: Sci-Fit Kre-Alkalyn
Creatine Ethyl Ester: Controlled Labs Green Bulge, Omega Sports Thunder, ErgoPharm Cell Fuel, Primaforce CEE, ALRI Cr2

Nitric Oxide: The first of an exciting new category of muscle-enhancers known as a hemodilators. Nitric Oxide boosters have the unique ability to perpetually sustain the flow of muscle-building agents to skeletal muscle. By widening the blood vessel and increasing blood flow, butrients such as protein and creatine reach the muscle at a better rate.

Products: Controlled Labs White Blood, Omega Sports Lightning, *** AEE, Axis Labs- NE2

Cutting/Stimulants: These are products that naturally help boost: energy, focus, fat burning, cortisol inhibition. Some products contain stimulants, which are the ingredients that may give you a jittery feeling- such as caffeine.

Non-Stimulant: Scivation Sesamin, USPlabs cAMPHIBOLIC, Avant Labs Sesathin, Designer Supplements Glucophase xr, Designer Supplements Lean Extreme, ALRI Venom Lean Dreams

Stimulant: Controlled Labs Red Acid, Vasopro Ephedrine HCL, MAN Scorch, Anabolic Xtreme StimulantX, ErgoPharm AMP, USPlabs C2, Designer Supplements Basic Cuts, ALRI Venom

Glycerol: Glycerol is an interesting compound that has been shown to enhance athletic performance and cause “hyperhydration” when consumed with water (above and beyond that with water alone). It seems to help keep the body cooler during exercise. Glycerol does contain calories.
Products: Controlled Labs GlycerGrow

Anabolics: processes tend toward "building up" organs and tissues. These processes produce growth and differentiation of cells and increase in body size, a process that involves synthesis of complex molecules. Examples of anabolic processes include growth and mineralization of bone and increase of muscle mass.

Herbal: USPlabs PowerFULL, USPlabs Symmetry, Scivation Anagen

Joint Support: These are supplements that could possibly correct/prevent/aid- tendon pain, joint problems, bone growth. Main ingredients are usually- Glucosamine, Chondroitin, Shark Cartilage, MSM, Cissus Quadrangularis, SAMe

Products: USPlabs Cissus Rx, SAN Bone Boost, NOW Glucosamine/chondroitin, Berverly International Joint Care

BCAA: Branched Chain Amino Acids, leucine, isoleucine, and valine, are of special importance for athletes because they are metabolized in the muscle, rather than in the liver. Here's how this works: After digestion once protein is broken down into individual amino acids these aminos can either be used to build new proteins or be burned as fuel to produce energy.

Products: Scivation Xtend, MRM Bcaa+g, Xtreme Formulations ICE, Optimum Nutrition BCAA

Preworkout: Usually a blend of Creatines, Nitric Oxide Boosters, Stimulants, Citrulline Malate, for those of you that want an all in one supplement.

Products: Designer Supplements Xceed, San V12, Dymatize Xpand, Bsn No-Xplode, MetRx Amped, Thermolife Xplode Reloaded

Antioxidants: Antioxidants are intimately involved in the prevention of cellular damage -- the common pathway for cancer, aging, and a variety of diseases.

Products: Scivation Noxidant, NOW antioxidants, Designer Vigor, green tea extracts

A few people I know wanted a sort of Introduction to supplements... what they needed to start out. SO I just whipped something together, and I know all this info can be found scattered around bb.com, but here it is all in one if anyone can find it useful. Let me know if yout think any of the info is good/bad, or if you think I should add/subtract any supps. from it

I was hoping to see Glutamine on there specifically since it seems to be so highly debated.

Sure... I just did some basic supplement info first and Arginine would fall under the Nitric Oxide section.

Good post.

I would like to ask that you look at our CVM Xtreme and Creatine E2 and Creatine E2 Matrix products as possible additions to your creatine recomendation list. We posted HPLC results numerous places, and also there are numerous logs on the above products.

Also, I would like to ask that you look at including our Arginine E2 Matrix into your NO recomendation list. Again, there are numerous logs on it.

Thank you.

Maybe I am mistaken, but I thought sublime said all the product he listed were ones he's tried before. I could be wrong though, it happened once before.

You could be right, sleep deprivation is a wonderful thing lol. If he stated that, I missed it.

haha ya I tried to only include ones that I have tried before... However I found I had a lack of supplements I had tried to put on the herbal Anabolics list so I added Scivation Anagen, as well as the Cell Fuel.

I added these two supplements because I wanted to put an ecdy product up and for lack of a better word, couldnt find any other "enjoyed" ecdy products out there to date. I added Cell Fuel because of the new addition it is trying to put forth in a creatine product which intrigues me.

All the other products on this list I have either done at least one complete cycle on, but there ARE a few that I have simply tried about a weeks worth of samples for. I'm trying to keep this list to as much from personal experience as I can.

As for SNS- I have not tried any of your products yet, but would love to... However I just dropped over $600 in supplements this past week so it may take a while before I can purchase one of your creatines to try- However, I will try and add you to my next shopping list

I will revise my list son as well as post up "example" stacks for anyone interested

basic, but a good resource for beginners.

How about multivitamins, EAA's, EFA's and citrulline malate products (probably under a different category to NO supps)

Citrulline Malate: A very interesting supplement choice! Relatively new in the supplement world, Citrulline malate has been shown to have many athletic enhancing properties. First of all, what it is is a non essential amino acid with malate attached. It has been shown to increase energy and overall well-being. It has also been shown to improve aerobic performance! It may help you train harder and recover faster. It is often added in products containing Arginine because of its Nitric Oxide boosting properties. It makes a great addition to a creatine and Arginine stack, or can be used stand alone.

Products: Ergopharm StaminO2
Products containing Citrulline Malate: ALRI Primed, Universal Shock Therapy, Bsn NO Xplode, ALRI NGorge

I don't think it has as a supplement for healthy humans. But I may be wrong
