Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 12 | so i have been working out pretty hard lately...except a few weeks ago i got sick...it lasted about a week and then i was back in the gym...i come back in the gym 5 lbs lighter and was lifting almost the same..didn't lose too much strenght so i was happy..but i felt like i looked a lot smaller...so i work out for a week and gain back about 2 lbs..everything was great..then another week passes and same thing happens..all lifts go up again and i'm back where i was..but again at the end of the week i got sick again... now we have a ton of colds flying around right now..i go to work and i hear people caughing everywhere...but i eat (in my mind) quite well and have been getting decent sleep (around 8 hours a night but i feel like i need more).. what i was wondering is even though i am tired all day as soon as i take no-xplode i get in the gym and give it my all like i am feeling great...i'm assuming it is the caffeine in the there that is giving me all this energy..so am i just basically overworking my body causing it to get sick? i have been taking 2 30g scoops of whey a day and was thinking about adding in some bcaa's but i have been reading up a lot about how amino acid's fight to be the dominate so by taking bcaa's my body will be lacking in all of the other amino acids..same opinion goes with my thoughts about taking glutamine..any opinions guys? i'm just getting over my cold as i spent the how weekend on the couch and dont want to have to do that again anytime soon..thanks |

Most people get sick because they allow themselves to get run down too often with stress, don't eat properly and miss out on sleep.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 52 | yeah even us healthy ppl get sick... hes right i would add this - ppl mostly get sick often cuz the rub there eyes or put germ infected hands in there mouths - so washing hands frequently BEFORE YOUR EAT, after touching the gym equipment, etc WILL make a big big diff. Also avioded crowds (impossible in New York), Get a flu vacine - this one prevents me from training. A cold I can work through... I heard ZiCam Flu & Cold works wonders... anyone have any experience with it? |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | one word brother: DayQuill. It has to be the liquid form. It is hands down the best cold medicine on the market. I swear by it. When I'm sick it's the first thing I reach for and it makes life so much more bearable. Also try bumping up your Vitamin C especially if everyone around you is sick. When I feel like I might have a cold coming on I take an additional 2,000mg of vitamin c spread through out the day on top of my multi and any i get in the food I eat. Stay away from sick people People keep bringing ailments into school and passing them off onto me. Since I'm "healthy" most of them bounce right off, but once in a while one won't.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 299 | Couple of words of advice from the former King of Colds (I literally used to get sick 10 or more times over a winter) First off your run down, it takes some time for your immune system to full recover after fighting off a cold. Going back in the gym and pushing it hard again without getting in a bunch of extra rest will just keep the cycle going. Make sure your getting plenty of Vit C, not just from tabs but from natural souces like oranges or strawberries. When you start feeling run down (that crappy feeling you get just before getting sick) Gulp down a few garlic pills and 1000mg of Vit C. Along with that I swear by these and so does everyone else after they try it...http://www.ricolausa.com/products/cough/2 take 1 every 1 to 2 hours until that crappy feeling goes. Also get to bed asap when you feel it coming on. The extra rest will help you fight it off before it happens. The best thing for a cold is to beat it before it get's full blown. I've gone from my 10 a year to 0 just by doing this. Good luck ![]() |

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 12 | ya i take a multivitamin everyday and deffinately bumped up my vitamin c intake when i started to feel like i was getting sick.i normally take 1g a day ontop of what i get from food.. Darkfalcon i have tried those cough drops but never really got much out of them that i could notice..so i instead have been taking 2 grams of Echinacea a day... never tried the garlic pills so i will deffinatly check that out.. also skelooth ya my gf brought me by some dayquil and nyquil..only thing i was wondering about them is it mostly just to make me feel better or do they actually do a lot to help you getting over the cold..the nyquil is deffinately nice to help you get a good night sleep |
