Default Best WeightGainer?

Hey everyone. I've been looking around for a quality high calorie supplement, but all I can find are ones that are high i sugars and define their complex carbs as Maltodextrine. Doesn't anyone make their gainers with like... dehydrated startch or something?

I'm looking for a quick, yet POTENT breakfast in the morning. I know there are a lot of recipes for homemade ones, but I don't really have the time or resources for that in the morning. I've decided I would rather just supplement it with a gainer of some sort.

Any faves or experiences with gainers high in healthy fat and starches? If there are truly none of these available.... someone could make a killing developing one... IMO.

I've never seen one myself. Weight gainers are great at making you fat.

I agree that Cytogainer is probably the least of all evils when it comes to weight gainers. I wouldn't go so far as to say Cytogainer tastes good, but it is definitely tolerable and it fed me many times sitting up at GNC when I ran out of chicken and rice.

It has real low sugar, which is the biggest upshot I see to using it versus pretty much any other gainer.

I've never used it, but MHP has UpYourMass that I recall as being worth a look if I ever went down that road.

Universal Nutrition just released Torrent, which is more of a post workout supp, but it has waxy maize starch and some other goodies for your carbs... I think most of the PWO recovery agents would be wasted if you are taking Torrent as a gainer, but it might be worth looking into.

Question: Would it be entirely bad to chug an MRP or an extra scoop of whey along with your breakfast? Avg MRP = ~250 cals, 35-45g protein.

Or, space it out and have a shake an hour after your "regular" breakfast...

actually, i'd switch that. I'd do the supp first, then real breakfast. The BV and digestion speed of a supp is generally higher than whole food.

Thanks for the responses guys. I believe someone can make a killing developing a healthy gainer.

What kinds of things would you like to see in a "healthy gainer"?

Cytogainer, Real Gains and Isopure Mass have some of the best profiles. Ergo makes Mass Meal that looks interesting. Its more fat but derived from Enova oil.

Haven't tried the Isopure Mass, although Nature's Best tends to make some quality products.

In all honesty, I'd much rather just throw oats, whey protein, milk, and some peanut butter in my blender than screw around with all the other junk that goes into these gainers. Throw in some ice cubes and you have a chocolate peanut butter smoothie.

GNC - Sports Nutrition: GNC Pro Performance® Mass XXX™ - Chocolate

It's GNC's Pro Performance brand, but it let me gain a pound per day for 10 days.

Homeade options are always your best route, but if looking for a prepackaged one, cytogainer is hard to beat.

The problem with GNC's stuff is that they use lower purity protein and a lot of sugars. The Mass XXX is better than many of their other products but all things being nutritionally equal, GNC products always lose out in the taste department.

I've always had bad experiences with GNC as far as taste goes, but this is by far their best product. It really doesn't taste bad, but it's a hell of a big shake compared to some of the others.
