They really are good. The recipe is pretty open to some adjustments according to the feedback that I have gotten. People have added vanilla extract, used vanilla whey, banana whey, chocolate whey, olive oil instead of veg oil, nuts, etc and it the muffins still turned out to taste great. I guess if you know a little about baking you can make some adjustments of your own based off of experience too.

EDIT:

Didn't notice your post until after I made mine. Try substituting strawberries for the bananas...hell, strawberry banana is a great combo too...I haven't tried these with flavored protein, but I think it would still work.

Man, banana bread is my favorite. These sound awesome, I'll make some as soon as I start bulking in 18 days.

I'm not a fan of vegetable oils. Could I replace it with butter or another oil?

Definitely. This recipe started from a regular banana bread loaf recipe and I played around with it some. I have used EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) when making these...I think I have used veggie oil too and I don't remember there being a difference in taste.

Yup. I haven't made this in about a month, but I think I ended up just mixing everything all at once.

Really great recipe. I'm just learning to cook. I'm good at oats, eggs and chicken, you know the simple stuff. But I haven't ventured into muffins yet. What kind of bananas do you use overripe, greentop or yellow (just ripe)?

That's a pretty damn good question for somebody that doesn't cook. Overripe bananas are the best as they have the most flavor. Enjoy!

Oh man, that's a great idea! The next time that I make these I'm going to add some semi-sweet chips to a few of them.
