Default Standing calf raise alternative (anyone else do like this?)

Hay, today is my first day posting here in quite a while.

Standing calf raises while holding the bar like a deadlift.... anyone else do them? I like doing them because I can do them quite explosively, and I feel they may help condition that portion of cleans. I don't think it's anything SUPER special, but it makes for a good alternative to throw in the rotation of exercises.

I dont see how you alternate with a bb (balance reason). I do them with a dumbell and stand on a block and hold a pillar for balance so I can go heavy.

if your worried about that portion of cleans, jump shrugs.

I've done calf raises in the deadlift, not my favorite thing, but it works in a pinch

i see what you're saying here...although i prefer to have the weight on my shoulders rather than my hands. I can do calf raises with way more than i can hold comfortably, so the smith machine is my best friend on calf day

I have terrible balance doing calf raises with a barbell. So I use dumbbells/machine
