Default Shoulder Presses - Breathing?

When do you inhale and exhale during military presses, or any shoulder presses for that matter.

I always inhale when I lower the weight to my chest and exhale after I reach the top of the movement. Is this the correct way?

You're supposed to exhale during the push upwards. It takes some getting used to.

I always tend to get light headed during BB Military presses if I don't manage my breathing well.

Nothing worse than getting dizzy while holding 225 lbs over my head.

Exhale when your pressing up
Inhale on the way down

Breathing is something you have to practice. It'll come with time. Don't worry.

i guess i dont think about it anymore....have been doing it this way for years....

of course, you can always hold your breathe - not good but sometimes it works as well if not better...

Proper breathing is important.

Not breathing correctly can lead to problems, there was a study published in September about the effect of holding your breath on eye pressure.
