Default Lying Leg Extensions?

Is this a good exercise to do for developing the quads? It's the same thing as leg extensions, except your lying down on your back.

You'd get a lot more stretch at the lowered portion of the lift compared to the sitting up version... Be it good or bad.

I'll never drop squats out of my workout, don't worry, but squats alone will not do it for me.

front squats crush the quads as well as deadlifts. One legged movments are also very good quad movments. All these evercises also hit tyhe hammies and glutes which are usally very underdevloped

I do include front squats from time to time, but for isolating the quads, are leg extensions not good?

West side recomends them for a posible prehabilitation exercise, which means you don't do them at maximum intensity or anything. I say go ahead and try them out if you want, just don't expect much from them. If you enjoy the exercise, find a purpose for it, and can do it safely, then go ahead and use it.

My recomendation, try it out as a prehab exercise and just play around with it. If you notice it's helping your squat or any other important exercise, then keep it, but keep it as a 'less important exercise'.

I've used them and to be honest they are no better then seated, well not entirely because it does make it easier to get that flex and hold at the top of the movement but I think you'd be better off with weighted lunges instead.

I refuse to do any kind of leg extension. They're one of the hardest exercises on the joints.

I don't have a leg press machine, but I will be using the schools if I need to.

do you have a smyth rack?

Super close stance, super slow reps back squating in a smyth keeping your back perpendicular to the ground will absolutely enilate your quads.

I really dont have much other than free weights.

I'm thinking I will use the school gym more often when I start bulking again, so I can use their leg press and smith machine and leg curl machine.

Walking lunges or just lunges? I've tried lunges but I suck so much doing them, I have terrible balance.

I kinda wanna do what Ronnie does with the lunges in the parking lot with a barbell, except not even close to as heavy.
