Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 158 | I don't know about the next day, but I know I usually feel nautious after squatting. I think it has to do with the (intense) stress it puts on your entire body... all your blood rushes into your legs, and there is none left for your head lol. But... I don't know why it happens! But it happens to all of us! The next day thing is weird though. But sometimes after doing legs I have to sit down and collect myself in the locker room before I can drive off.

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 0 | Possibly there is some sort of inflammation going on in your gut area. It sounds similiar to problems I have sometimes after workouts. Since I have colitis and my colon is inflammed much of the time, I sometimes vomit after workouts and the next day I may have headaches and even vomit after eating the next day. Anyways maybe there is some kind of bruising or inflammation or something like that going on internally that is aggravated by the workout? Maybe you should have it checked out..

It really has little to do with what you've eaten or how you breath. One of the biggest causes of nausea from squatting is position induced low blood pressure. When you are squatting a large volume of blood goes to your legs, and when you come up quickly or stand up after a set, somtimes the blood cannot return to your upper body fast enough, and creates a temporary low blood pressure situation. Nausea is a common side effect of this condition. Ask almost any long time bodybuilder or powerlifter and almost all will have experienced this many times over their years of squatting. - EME

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 116 | ^ I always feel like I follow up EME. I've puked in the past during good leg days. It shouldn't be normal. Just take some extra rest between sets... maybe sip on some dextrose, and yes, controled breathing helps.

![]() Seriously though....no, it shouldn't be a normal event, but it does happen. A buddy and I used to do triple drop set squats... One set to failure.. drop the weight in half.. go to failure again....drop it in half again.... go to failure again...... talk about an ass kicking routine.... Over the few months when we were doing that routine.... puking between sets was pretty common. - EME

Recipes: 0 Rep Power: 47 | During exercise, blood flow patterns change. Through the action of the sympathetic nervous system, blood is redirected away from areas where it is not essential to those areas that are active during exercise. Only 15 to 20% of resting cardiac output go to muscle, but during exhaustive exercise, like leg workouts, the muscles receive 80 to 85% of the cardiac output. This shift is accomplished by reducing blood flow to the kidneys, liver, stomach and intestines, which cause the feelings of nausea associated with leg workouts. Also, the red blood cells which carry oxygen to the working muscles as well as the entire body gets diverted to the working muscles which leads to feelings of being light-headed due to lack of sufficient oxygen to other systems. |
