Thumbs up

Press down and kickback movements stimulate lateral and medial heads. Arms overhead movements favor growth of the long head... i think...

Yes, all overhead movements emphasize the long head. However im not sure how or if you can emphasize the lateral head of the tricep...

Sounds right but I was hoping to find a particular specific movement that would work best.

Pressdowns
Any overhead movements
Dips on bench
Kickbacks :gay:

Those are good, most Tricep movements work the whole head.

Have you ever done pressdowns behind the back? Heard they are good but never really put any effort in them. I'll try them again if others recommend it.

I don't know, I would think that would mess up your Arm and Delts.

I'll give it a try.

It is, at least for me, and many guys that have tried them. Just make sure you use a wide enough bar and slightly lean forward. It will take the stress off your shoulders and you will really feel it in the delts. The hardest part of the movement is getting into position, if you do not have adjustable pullies on your pushdown apparatus you probably should pass this one up, unless you have a really stable platform to work on.

I was gonna say, I thought it'd kill the rotators. I don't think I'll try behind the back pressdowns right now, I tore my first rotator cuff at 17 :banghead:

Ouch. For what it's worth, I dislocated my left shoulder in highschool football (circa 1998) and had chronic shoulder problems for a while, but this movement gives my shoulders zero pain (as opposed to dips, which sear my shoulders).

Hey bro great to see ya!! :fruity: I tore my rotator last year but it's back to about 95% now so it's all good. I credit it to using the handbike to warm-up before every shoulder and chest workout along with proper stretching and warmups. Love the sig by the way. :bigthumbu

Yeah man, back full time. I got banned again. About nine times :bigthumbu

Bad luck about the rotator cuff - but I'm not doing handbikes for two reasons:

1. We don't have one at my gym
2. I hate anything remotely close to cardio

Do some Reverse Close Grip Benchpresses. They rule for triceps development.

lol..I think 95% of bodybuilders hate cardio me included. I haven't tried the reverse close grip's in a long time. I think I'll throw them in for awhile. Thanks bro. :nosthumbs

Behind the head 2 hand dumbell extensions. Personally, I feel like if a person incorporates these, dips, and close grip bench, they will have well developed triceps. But it's important to keep experimenting until you find the right exercise for YOU.

i always forget the names of the heads of the triceps. i'm guessing the outside part???

i like doing something i call crossbody extensions... a magazine called them one armed presdowns to the side. those hit that part of my tricep pretty well.

Yes, those are crossbody extensions. You do them on an incline bench, hold the dumbells straight up, and cross your arms down, and then bring them back up
